This school needs more exciting curriculums. Students are constantly bored and understimulated and forced to stay inside all day.

If your student fits within the box of traditional education, they will do fine. If you are looking for something where they teach outside the box and help support kids who need more (Special Education, TAG, 2E, etc) then this is not where you want to go. Expect traditional "sit and get" instruction for hours on end with traditional "write a paper" ways to show your learning. Expect A lot of "write a paper" type assignments nightly. The homework amount is over the top busywork. Deeper learning does not happen. Differentiation does not happen. If you don't fit the mold of typical, you will probably struggle. The bullying that takes place is usually taken care of by other students who stop it and there isn't a lot of it. Students who struggle with attendance or are unengaged in school are not supported. They become targets of the staff who don't know how to meet their needs and end up leaving the school.

Hallinan has been and continues to be an amazing place for our children (1st and 5th grade). We continue to be amazed by how well the teachers and staff know the students, and how much effort goes towards ensuring they feel a part of a positive community. They are teaching the whole child and make an extra effort to ensure values (safe, kind and respectful) are emphasized. Everything from the playground to stem, music and pe wow us. The Hallinan community has been a key contributor to the positive development of both our kids. Thank you for making the extra effort in communications with parents, notes to students and safety throughout this challenging season.
