The house is a classic mid-century, in the flavor of Frank Lloyd Wright with five foot eves and well placed windows that bring the outdoors in! An open kitchen, fireplace in living room, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, lots of cabinet space, all in original, vintage condition. This home has not been messed with; it is a modern mid-century classic, probably very close to the way it looked when it was built. In the back is the artist studio (approx. 850 sq. ft.) which has since been turned into a studio apartment with an attached work shop area.As exciting as the vintage home is wait until you see the extremely large lot, 29,302 sq. ft., beautiful mature oaks, giant cactus, birds of paradise, fig trees, paths, walk ways, vegetable garden area and the list goes. The house has been a rental for the past 6 years but the owners told me that the gardens were on par with Descanso. As you stroll around the garden you can only imagine how more beautiful it will be with a little care. The Vermeers met at the Art Center s 7th Street campus, where Irene was the first school photographer and Arthur was industrial design, making models of the Hollywood Bowl and the famous Timberline Lodge (which was displayed at the world fair).
