Everyone who has graduated from Lamar High School is a professional in the career world: Physicians- MDs- Lawyers etc. I did not go to school there but the people that I know who graduated from there are earning 6 figures & up. The area is nice - near everything. If I went to a public school, I’d definitely choose Lamar High School.

My daughter had attended MacGregor since she was in kinder. Since those years I noticed many changes to the school like staff changes and the removal of a pto to allow parents to raise money and support the school and the students. I personally never had any issues with the teachers through the years but I heard from a few parents that they had a very different experiences. One time my daughter came home telling me that she saw her teacher cry when she wasn't helped with a student who was causing some behavior issue in the classroom. That concerning to me as a parent because the school should have our children safety first. This child apparently disrupting classroom materials and talking back to the teacher. Makes me think what the school staff or teacher did to handle that situation because I for sure dont want my child seeing this kind of behavior to be okay and acceptable when really children are their to safely learn and enjoy the school day. I also heard from someone that this shchool has inconsistent with teachers out every month and there are many new teachers which is disappointing because I wanted my child to be with a certain teacher that has taught there for many years only to hear that they no longer teach there. Like I said many new changes. so I made the change to switch my daughter to a different school last year in 2019 year and was a big difference. I hope there are better changes at the school because I originally was happy with MacGregor when my daughter first attended. School need improvement

My family’s experience with this school has been disappointing.As a parent, I understand that no school is perfect. Children will face challenges, and occasional misunderstandings are inevitable. However, I expect a school environment to be welcoming, equitable, and responsive to both students and families. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.My primary concern was my child’s repeated perception that he was treated differently than some of his peers. He often came home feeling singled out or corrected more frequently. While I cannot speak to every classroom interaction, I cannot ignore the perspective of the child experiencing it. One comment that stood out came directly from my son: “She treats the people who speak Arabic better than she treats people who don’t.” Whether that perception reflects intent or not, it is concerning that a young child felt there was a difference in how students were treated.In today’s world, children are already navigating questions of identity, belonging, and acceptance. Schools should be places where every student feels equally valued and supported, regardless of language background, culture, or ethnicity. When a child consistently feels like an outsider, families deserve to have those concerns taken seriously.Unfortunately, the challenges extended beyond the classroom. Interactions with office staff were often discouraging and unprofessional. On multiple occasions, I felt ignored when approaching the front desk for assistance. There were also phone interactions that left me feeling dismissed, including being hung up on while attempting to address routine matters regarding my child. At times, I genuinely joked that I must have been wearing an invisibility cloak because basic acknowledgment seemed too much to ask.A school’s culture is reflected not only in its academics but also in how it treats families. Respect, courtesy, and professionalism should be standard.The Arabic immersion model is a wonderful concept, and I appreciate the opportunity it provides students to learn another language and culture. However, a strong program cannot compensate for an environment where students and parents do not consistently feel welcomed, heard, or respected.I hope school leadership takes feedback like this seriously and works toward ensuring that every child and family feels equally valued, supported, and included.
