. The third of a mile drive brings you across the creek to the 1740 brick home. Completely private; it sits on 40 acres in the center of an 800 acre parcel which is in a land conservancy. Quiet and tranquility prevail.
I am offering the downstairs, decorated in a mix of antique and modern, which includes a chefs quality kitchen, dining, living and a full bath. Plus a daybed for napping or overnights. Outside you will find table and chairs by the barbecue, and just beyond an outdoor shower (why not, only the blue herons are watching)
The bedroom is located in private cottage beneath the pines, twenty five steps from the back door, where there is a half bath. The cabin is fully renovated, with AC, six foot french windows, clean, simple and very romantic. With the windows open the creek can be heard alongside the peepers.
Sit by the pond with a view up the valley to the barn. Hike the property and gather ramps or mushrooms.
Its a mile and a half from town with an array of dining options.
The Village of Kinderhook is an unparalleled rural escape. Numerous agrarian, historical and cultural attractions are within a short walk from the inn including the acclaimed Pick-Your-Own farm, Samascott Orchards, the Empire State Trail, the Columbia County Historical Society and Jack Shainman's upstate gallery, "The School". Located within a 15 minute drive are Art Omi, the Villages of Chatham and Ghent and the Martin Van Buren National Historic Site. In just a 20 minute drive guests can reach the nearby City of Hudson while day trips to Olana State Historic Site, Tanglewood, Jiminy Peak, Catamount Mountain Resort, the Berkshires region and Albany are favorite excursions.
Please note: AC is only available in the cottage. The brick keeps the main house cool. There is no WIFI. Come here to escape.
