For a location where there’s a lot of military families (even though that is not my case I just moved here on my own accord) they certainly do not communicate if your child is having a rough transition. Now let me start off, we were a faculty favorite in our former school, this kid knew everyone from the security guards down to the lunch aids and they greeted us happily at every event, drop off, pick up etc. here? my daughter was labeled a problem from the 3rd day with only a passive aggressive note in her planner…. That she saw! Imagine being a 6/7 year old and seeing a note about yourself like that in your planner. Ok I try to find a way to reach out and say hey we are new here let me know what’s going on… nothing for a few days until I figure out it’s through a totally different app. In that meantime, they had the principal “casually” speak to her but she already knew why and felt even more uncomfortable in a totally new environment. When I finally reach out and get in touch, it was insinuated she had under lying issues, I asked exactly what does she possibly mean by that oh no I didn’t mean mental.. well now you kinda did because I didn’t say you said mental but thanks for ratting yourself out. Then more passive aggressive notes “she has no idea what she’s doing” on more paperwork that she can see what was written about her. Again, never had this thrown at me in kindergarten and first grade. Now my daughter wants be homeschooled, ok let me get the paperwork together I totally understand. Final act, my daughter is at the principals office, no other communication that she has been acting out days prior and tells her she doesn’t want to be at that school anymore. I explain to the principal how is it I didn’t know that this has been happening for days in there until it lead to this moment? This is why I’m unpacking my degree to upload to the state, she feels uncomfortable with all these notes that she sees, labeled right off bat the third day without finding out what’s going on and what kind of student she actually is, and when she advocates for herself she’s a problem. All I got was an “ok I’ll let the teacher know” no apology no acknowledgement - nothing. That pretty much tells me more than I need to know right there on my final decision of homeschooling. From a faculty favorite in NY to the “problem kid” in NC… tell me who’s the real problem here.
