About this House

Beautiful, handmade, furnished home for rent by owner from Oct 1-Nov 18. This would be a great opportunity for a couple or family moving to the area and needing a place to land, for someone planning an extended visit to the area, or for someone in-between housing. The house is located a mile (walking distance!) from Downtown Marshall.

I have been building the house myself for the past three years, and it is full of beautiful details: natural lime plaster walls, hardwood floors, ambient lighting, sculptural nooks, two beautiful balconies (one with an outdoor clawfoot tub!), and a handmade wooden spiral staircase. The house is 1500sqft. It has 3bed 1.5 bath, and it has three stories (not ADA accessible). The house is heated with a combination of mini-splits and a wood stove. Renter must be comfortable using a wood stove properly. There is a beautiful fenced yard (just under 1 acre), garden beds, and two huge outdoor porches (one porch on the house, another large wooden deck in the yard). The driveway is very steep and bumpy. AWD not required, but it probably won't be a good fit for a small/low car like a Prius. The house is furnished (I am a minimalist, so it is sparse). One thing to note: The house is fully functional, but some aesthetic details are still unfinished. Some trim is still missing in certain places. It still feels very clean, inviting, and homey.

This house is not a rental property, it is my home. I am looking to rent to folks who are respectful, clean, mindful, and great communicators. I would be open to renting to a family, a couple, or up to 3 adult friends/housemates. Unfortunately I cannot accommodate any pets.

Owner pays for water and internet. Renter responsible for electricity, gas, and firewood. $1200 safety deposit due upon signing lease. No smoking. No pets.
