The reputation of The Clarkstown School District is largely a myth. If your child requires any kind of support, accommodations, or encouragement, then you are out of luck. The teachers (for the most part) at Clarkstown South are mailing it in. Considering the school taxes that you are paying in Clarkstown, the poor quality of education your child will receive (unless already a good student), is criminal. Consider private school and save you and your child years of grief and heartbreak.

Highly unsupportive of disabilities and low income.

Hellish. Teachers listen to the students half the time MHand the other time you’re SOL. The principal (Dr St John as of March 2026) is a lovely person. They pretend to ease you in and by the end of the first month of 6th grade you have 1.5 hours of homework. Bullying is rampant. I’ve been called slurs not even used for my ethnicity, I’ve been beat up to the point of tears. I have met multiple people that are homophobic, the food is bad, the buses suck, and the past few years have been torture.

Great school! Excellent teachers and principals. If your child is an honored student they have many enriched classes. Also If your child needs more help the have classes so your children can get more help! The guidance counselor are helpful and kind. I if they call it a school physiologic or counselor but they are very sweet and help you a lot! I guess the challenging academic programs is enriched programs which they do have. I would recommend to send your child to this school!

The grade system is messed up but it is a good school
