My daughter attended this school for one day and unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. As a parent of a nonverbal child with an IEP, communication, patience, and professionalism are extremely important to me. From the very first interaction, I felt unwelcome and dismissed.I was never properly introduced to my child’s teacher or shown the classroom environment. The teacher stated she was unaware my daughter would even be joining her class that day and had little information about her needs. Pickup communication on the first day was also handled in a way that felt rude and confrontational rather than understanding or supportive.I completely understand schools have schedules and policies, however first impressions matter, especially when working with children who require extra care and support. As a parent, I did not feel comfortable leaving my child in an environment where communication already felt negative on day one.I hope the school improves its parent communication and transition process for future families.

I have a male child that has attended Comer since Grade 7. The school is a little over the top with the demerits. Also, teachers that are not mature or that may have a dislike for the student can use this to their ability to control or bully the student. This schools focus seems to be control and not education. I know that self'-control is important but not to the point that a child can be demoted for detentions but maintain the honor roll. This to me should be a trigger that the child needs some type of help or counselling not be held back or allowed to transfer. I guess it's an easy job if you have mostly perfect kids.
