Cochran Elementary is a great school. We recently moved away from Williamsport and are going to miss all of the teachers and staff so much! Both of our daughters needed help with speech and reading and received the best support I've ever seen. I can only pray that our new school is half as good as Cochran was to our family!

My family's experiences at this school continue to amaze us. The administration, the teachers, the students, and the community, are all extremely involved and take great pride in increasing all students' full potential. Our student's experience at the school has been very positive. In areas where our student is strong, our student has moved into an accelerated or a higher grade opportunity . When our student has needed remediation, The school has the services and the gumption to provide remediation and remedial services for any student--not just Title I students. Music programs are top. Reading services are top. They take nutrition seriously. Teachers are continuously improving themselves. The school uses many forms of data to provide services for kids in need. All of this is possible under the strong leadership of the building administration. If there was a downfall, I would question where the district administration looks to take programs and programming for kids in the future.

I am a 2024 graduate of WAHS. Coming from a good student, who took 8 AP classes over four years and got a majority of As, who was involved in music, athletics, and several clubs, Williamsport High School is simply a poor school. I am in college now, and compared to my peers here, I am completely unprepared to the point of being behind (even though, as said before, I was an excellent student in high school). The teachers generally don't care about their students, and only want them to "do well" so it doesn't appear that they are doing a poor job teaching. Because of this, the grade inflation is ridiculous. For example, I took AP Calculus, and, without learning anything in class (the teacher was simply not a teacher), I still managed to get high B's and A's. If your kid does their work, they will get good grades, but will be entirely unprepared for life after high school, especially if they attend a more competitive college. Granted, there are a few (a few) good-quality teachers (my psychology and German teachers were wonderful, as well as my AP English teacher Junior year), but, in my opinion, they are unable to truly teach well and challenge their students because of the aforementioned grade-inflation problem. The school does not produce free-thinkers, well versed in critical thinking, but rather kids who know how to write a 5-paragraph essay (entirely useless after high school), and who have been conditioned to not challenge themselves. Don't send your kid there.
