If you're a parent looking for a smaller school with educators who give 150% + each day and develop individual relationships with each student, then you have to check out this school. I've felt that the experience has been tailored to my child's strengths, and challenges have been addressed in only the most positive of ways. The music, drama, Spanish programs are amazing. The drama itself helps students learn so much. The music too. The fact that such a small school has an incredible and dedicated teacher to focus on these things - amazing! Too many positives to list in this small space!

Tomales elementary is exceptional. As the foster parents of twin girls we were received with open arms and hearts. The staff is dedicated and fully understanding of the challenges that a rural environment presents for children and parents.The K teacher Ms. Tambussi is beyond phenomenal in her devotion and attention to each child in her classroom.We were very happy to have been able to send the girls to Tomales.

Tomales High school is a very low performing school. It is one of the worst in the state. Almost all of the graduates who do go to college need to take remedial courses in math and English. The science department in 2024/25 is terrible, my son graduated at the top of his class, received an A in science and found that he could not even keep up in an entry level community college science course. He would have been better off and learned more just from watching YouTube videos.

Wonderful local school with the best staff I have ever met. Spanish language offered starting in Kindergarten. Music offered 2-8. Small class sizes and wonderful reading intervention teachers make this a great place to learn. The school takes good advantage of being so near the Point Reyes National Seashore and does lots of project-based learning. The school also has a school garden that is used (eaten) by the students and families. I would give 5 stars if this school wasn't at the mercy of a pretty crazy school board.
