I have serious concerns about the way Withrow Elementary School handles the well-being and individual needs of its students, particularly students with special needs.From my experience, there seems to be a significant lack of communication, consistency, and awareness among staff regarding what is happening with students. It is extremely concerning when parents feel that they cannot trust the school to properly understand or respond to their child’s needs.I have also heard similar concerns directly from multiple parents, including parents of children with special needs who have expressed that they are scared or uncomfortable leaving their children at school because they do not feel confident that their children will be properly supported or cared for.The lack of compassion and consistency I have experienced from the administration, particularly the principal, has been very disappointing. Leadership in an elementary school should be approachable, understanding, and genuinely concerned about the well-being of every child. Unfortunately, the interactions I have had have often felt very robotic and lacking in empathy.Special-needs students deserve more than simply having their needs acknowledged on paper. They deserve staff who are informed, compassionate, consistent, and willing to advocate for them. Parents should not have to constantly worry about whether their child is safe, understood, or receiving the support they need.I sincerely hope the school takes these concerns seriously and works toward creating a more compassionate, communicative, and accountable environment for all students and their families.
