"We've lived in South Natomas for 13 years . . . coming from the Midwest (Chicago mostly). The area is the most diverse, but equally friendly, neighborhood we have ever lived in. It feels like the Midwest of California with a West Coast flavor. South Natomas is two minutes from downtown Sacramento (an easy bike ride), situated on both the American and Sacramento Rivers, and an easy eight minutes to the airport. It has the best of all worlds. As the downtown railyards get built out, I could see South Natomas becoming as desirable as Midtown or East Sacramento. Established and more vintage neighborhoods with a great tree canopy define this hidden gem where you can still get more house for the money and definitely more yard or land . . . but likely not for long. This area is ripe -- or perfectly positioned -- for major gentrification. Already, some new luxury homes and apartments (like Sutter Green) have positively transformed portions of South Natomas."
  • Trulia User
"What the area is like. The culture. The traffic. The crime. The noise volume. Is there easy access to public transportation. "
  • Ann J.
"I lived in this area for 15yrs. Now in arden area, but always yearned to come back to the Natomas area, holidays were awesome!!"
  • Trulia User
"Currently, the good thing I can say about South Natomas. Is the access to most all freeways, it’s easy getting to so many of my husbands sites for work. And bc of the crime here, he had quite a few sites here. "
  • Trulia User
"I love it here is so quiet, no one bothers you and I feel safe my kids walk to school everyday and I feel safe. "
  • Trulia User
"Is a very quiet place everyone just to their own thing, everyone just to busy with school or work. No problems at all :)"
  • Trulia User
"I just moved back last year from the High desert and is a very nice area, I love it here. Everyone is very friendly , everything is close by, easy to get to the freeways. "
  • Trulia User
"They would like to know that people will walk their dogs daily, rain or shine. Dislike, that there are some people who don't walk with dogs on leashes. "
  • Trulia User
"Great schools, friendly stores. And great shopping and Resturant’s. And it’s only 15 minutes to down town."
  • Trulia User
"we constantly have events at the community center; santa, easter bunny, egg hunts etc. we also have garage sales."
  • Chubbyguyinsac
"There are many kids, alot if walkers, a few restaurants. It's fairly ckean neighborhood. Housing costs are fairly affordable. "
  • Trulia User
"Yes they walk them all the time around here without fail. There’s a trail that is excellent for walking your dogs."
  • Yvonnemarie W.
"It’s close to everything; very convenient location that provides easy access to a variety of businesses and attractions."
  • Shellydean070987
"Dog walkers would enjoy that most other walkers are very cautious. Most keep their dogs on a leash. There are stations with supplies to clean up afterwards."
  • Jessica S.
"i see people walking their dogs all the time there are a couple different dog parks around to take your dogs to. "
  • Jeni M.
"Tons of homeless people. Also, we’ve had our packages stolen from our door more than once. There is constantly dog poop on the sidewalks and grass."
  • Ashley G.
"My neighborhood is pretty surrounded with public transportation stops and it’s only 10 minutes from downtown. 7 minutes from a huge shopping center and theater as well"
  • Mary K. P.
"Slowly going down hill. Our neighboring neighborhood (higginwood) is slowly taking over the South Natomas area. Been living here for over 3 years and have seen a steady incline in criminal activity including homeless activity. "
  • Marques B.
"Convenience. Safe. I’m on the border of north so the really nice side is near by. Good elementary and middle schools are near. "
  • Jasonr_miller
"Easy. The 5 is right there. Only takes about twenty minutes to get anywhere. It’s a little harder due to the garden highway being under construction "
  • Hannah B.
"small dog park trash on streets i like that there isnt tons of illegal fireworks, and its good to have a dog because of the crime"
  • Jmariebeau
"On our cul-de-sac, Fourth of July is a big celebration during the day. We get to act like kids and have water wars. May thru October is water fight season. Friday night concerts at the Promenade are a big hit too!"
  • Krista
"There are no events that my family participated in during the 3 years we have lived here. Our Apartments have their own events when applicable."
  • Dustystardesigns
"Schools are awful unless you go to charter. Kids are out of control and bully others. I don’t feel safe most of the time. It’s really gone downhill fast. "
  • Leona S.
"It’s a nice place to live. People are friendly. Good people out with their families and walking their dogs. Working class neighborhood. "
  • Jmariebeau
"Summer events on our cul-de-sac include: water wars, 4th of July fireworks show and nightly fire pit gatherings. Halloween front yard presentation is minimal, but we put all our candy together and hand out generously while enjoying all the costumes!"
  • Coral H.
"I've lived in the neighborhood for over 9 years and the diversity makes it unique. As well as the way the neighbors treat each other."
  • Girtha B.
"Close to 5 and 80 freeway and downtown. Hearing more gunshots, car break ins, theft and vandalism in area. Being a senior citizen, I BC am becoming more and more uncomfortable in this area."
  • Dara J. H.
"Always seeing people walk their dogs . Most people pick up after their dogs. More patrol around banning creek dog park."
  • Mary M.
"My neighborhood has a great access to public transportation but the street I live in is tucked inside. The buses doesn’t go inside the neighborhood."
  • Jessicaaa P.
