What Locals Say about Decatur

  • Trulia User
"I dislike living in Decatur. The only good thing about it so far is that it is cheap to live here, but I do not feel safe when I'm out of the house. I constantly have to worry if my car will be stolen or vandalized while I'm not paying attention. I constantly hear gunshots at night, emergency vehicle sirens, noisy train horns, people getting into loud arguments and fistfights, it seems like it never stops. The air in Decatur reeks like cheap dog food if you're lucky, and like a wastewater treatment plant if you're not."

"Oakwood Street Festival is held four times a summer. It’s a block party with live music and local vendors put on by the businesses on the block. Its fun for everyone, even the kids love it. Later evening it turns into a very popular bar night because you can carry drinks from bar to bar. "
