"There are lots of other dog walkers and the streets are tree-lined. It’s primarily residential so there isn’t a lot of traffic and what there is, moves slowly."

"I’ve lived in downtown Atlanta for over 20 years and my favorite thing about it is that it is the most urban neighborhood in all Atlanta, with the historic architecture, public transit access and local attractions that come along with such a distinction. While Downtown has not been as “hot” as Midtown to the north, as of 2020 the neighborhood is on the verge, with multiple residential, commercial and office project under construction or coming soon. "it can be tricky during high peak hours for traffic but if you time it right it’ll be fine. going north or east on the highway always gives lots of traffic but again, with time management it shouldn’t be a huge issue. "

"Transportation is great here. People could use it a lot more but I think in atlanta, there is a perception that only poor people use public transit. "

"Downtown Atlanta is the most urban area in the city and as a resident of 20 years, it’s given me maximum access to public transit, a central location, a pedestrian-friendly environment, the bustle that comes with GSU students, tourists, and office workers, and in Fairlie-Poplar, the sub-section of Downtown I’m in, a surrounding of historic buildings. I live in a converted office high rise that’s over 100 years old and next door to me is a beautiful courthouse that’s even older, plus the Flatiron Building, which dates to the late 19th century. Another element of Downtown that makes it unique is the degree to which residents get to feel they are living in a “village” type environment, where you know the owners and workers at the various shops, restaurants, etc. in the neighborhood. People come and go on foot, not by car, do you see one another on the sidewalk and chat. The three challenges Downtown faces are 1) lack of major retail like supermarket (although even w/o a car I’ve always done fine), 2) only a small number of apartments (as opposed to condos like mine), and 3) a major homeless and panhandling issue, which has gone up and down over the years and us bad right now.
