Description

This lovely Antebellum home takes you back in time to simpler times. Although it was built c1862, it still stands strong due to the solid structure: 3 brick-thick walls (interior and exterior) that reach down and branch out to nearly 25 brick solid foundations in the basement. The rooms are large and charming with high baseboards and beautiful cornices. The two fireplaces are ornately trimmed and the library has floor to ceiling shelves. Built-in cabinets in several rooms add extra storage. The kitchen has hand-finished, antiqued cabinets that reach to the height of the the 10-foot ceiling. The large, black and white tile floors and counter-tops of the kitchen are vintage to add charm . Both bathrooms have distressed-wood counter-tops. Flooring in the majority of the house is original hard-wood, some of which has been stained a deep mahogany color. The three brick thick walls add insulation from the heat of summer and cool of winter. The sturdy home provides peace and quiet as the solid brick walls buffer sounds in and out of the home. Within walking distance to the historic downtown, and within an hours drive to Knoxville, the Tri-Cities, and the Pigeon Forge area, this centrally located home allows for quick travel to many near-by locations. The exterior has a large attached carport which can easily accommodate 3 cars, and an additional detached carport with a pitch roof large enough for a boat or camper to be parked. The courtyard area with the sturdy iron gate that leads to the side yard is close enough for grilling and access to the kitchen. This is more than an Antebellum house, it is a home for a loving family.

  • Eggertju
"I've met most of my neighbors and are friendly. Next door neighbor mowes area hard for me to mow. Wish neighbor dogs would potty in their own yard, but I'm glad they are nice. Nice area to live. "
  • Shepherdproductions
"Morristown, and in particular Windsor Place, is a terrific place to live. The homes are terrific, the neighbors are friendly-but still respect your privacy, and the entire subdivision is well-maintained, lighted and secure. The area's economy is coming back after a couple of very tough years, and we're seeing new construction. There are terrific recreational opportunities only minutes away, and it's less than an hour to the hottest shopping and tourism areas on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Boating, camping, fishing, hiking, biking, birding, you name it, there are opportunities here. If you're a higher-income family, Tennessee has no state income tax and the sales taxes, while high, aren't out of sight compared with Alabama or even Kentucky. You're minutes off the interstate, but seem far away from the pressures of the big city. At the same time, you have a very good public utility with a fiber backbone and solid services for work or business. It's small-town life with a proximity to bigger-city amenities. "
  • Memineme1
"Close to all shopping, golf course, hospitals and 24 hour Phx"
  • Kdarrellwilliams
"I have lived here for 21 years and love it. It is home sweet home. So much to do with the community and churches"
  • Rb27nh3
"Great location for family. Close to Morristown and shops and Jefferson City as well. Hamblin county schools."
