This bright, roomy-spacious 3 bedroom apartment is located on the second floor of a two flat on the north side of 79th street just one block from South Shore Drive. The unit features wall to wall carpeting, a new bathroom, new tile in the kitchen, 14 foot ceilings, appliances in an eat-in kitchen, private laundry in the basement and a parking space in the back. The south shore METRA train is just a short walk to the west and the #79 and #6 CTA bus line located just 1/4 block east from the front door of this home which is also located just a short walk from Lake Michigan and Rainbow Beach Dune (in Rainbow Beach and Park). Explore Chicago wrote: The eastern 11-acres of Rainbow Beach are designed as the Rainbow Beach Dune nature area. This area is bordered by the South District Filtration Plant to the southeast, breakwaters and seawall to the east. A fence with nature signage to the west separates the nature area from the recreational portion of Rainbow Beach. In the mid 1990s, beach ridges began to form naturally in the eastern section of Rainbow Beach. Soon, dune species began to colonize the newly formed beach ridges. Recognizing the site's potential to form a natural dune ecosystem the Chicago Park District installed protective fencing in 2001 to protect this developing nature area from excessive foot traffic. In May, June, and September of 2004, the Chicago Park District installed seed and over 30,000 plugs of native plants in the nature area. Rainbow Beach Dune nature area is open for hiking, bird-watching, and nature study. Visitors can expect to see native dune plants such as marram grass (Ammophilia breviligulata), sand reed (Calamovilfa longifolia), blazing star (Liatris aspera and L. cylindracea), prickly pear cactus (Opuntia humifusa), and many others.     "High crime area. High unemployment area. Near buses and Metra trains. Near lakefront and Rainbow beach. Area use to be nice, clean blue collar in the seventies. Decline started in the eighties and nineties (relocation of people from demolished housing developments) to areas nearby. Improvement might come sometime in the future because of location to the lake."
