7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am unimpressed. A major reason for moving here was for the supposedly great school system. However, I've found that inspite of a few good teachers the overall school is lackluster. Both kids (in elementary)have enough homework that our family time is spent harping on them to finish their school work. But the most infuriating part is the signs and lip service all over the school preaching an anti bullying stance but when incident does occur the staff seems both unconcerned and clueless as to react. We are seriously considering moving to a different school district.Other Review9y ago10 Reviews - Rootstown/Ward Davis Bldg High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter gets great grades never gets into trouble but is begging me to leave the school. She is hurting emotionally Her heart has been crushed on more than 4 occasions by her teachers comments about other children she is always crying about how mean her teachers comments are in the classroom. She is being ridiculed and so are others and i am going to remove her now because her self esteem is to the floor. She qualifies for a free lunch but they want to give her water out of there rusty pipes instead of juice because i didn’t want her to purchase junk food because of her weight since she has a well documented milk allergy after calling all of the schools within a 20 mile radius, not one of them said they would deny her Juice with proper documentation of her allergy. But other children that she knows has milk allergies are served juice in front of her this has been going on for to long. She says she wants to cry every time she is in the lunch room. It makes my stomach sick to send her to this school everyday. This old school has asbestos and yellow water that comes out of drinking fountains and no real ventilation systems. Children with asthma will be aggravated in this atmosphere. When i came to pick her up because she had a bad headache i could smell a chemical that smelled like paint thinner that was very strong and i sent her to the car and i walked down to the tech room and seen no windows open at all and the smell was overwhelming i was sickened at there lack of responsibility not using chemicals properly in a well ventilated area. any child walking down that hall could have went into a full blown asthma attack. I kept my daughter out of school for a couple days because she had headaches and nausea here come find out that this was going on for a whileOther Review10y ago3 Reviews - Check out schools near 3063 Jay St.

"A fence is important. Houses are kinda close. Other dogs. I have 3. And I only walk one at a time because not everyone leashes and I want to make sure I can control the situation. "

"The schools are average, but it’s a nice rural-city to raise a family. I can walk my dog at 1 o’clock in the morning and feel fine, and there no litter anywhere."

"Great strong family community, have lived here since 2000. I was born here but moved away for a few years. I’m glad I purchased a home and stayed in the community. While it’s not a fast paced city, and not very large, it’s peaceful.Neighbors help each other and usually look out for each other. There are plenty of parks and clear sidewalks and hiking paths to enjoy the outdoors safely. Schools are decent compared to Akron and Cleveland. The community is growing and moving forward with progress. Small business are coming into the area to help support the growth. Ravenna is the county seat of Portage County. While there is no perfect city, this place is a decent place to live and raise a family. While there is crime everywhere, it’s all relative to the people. There are definitely more good people than bad in this town. We have raised 6 kids here and 4 have gone onto colleges."

"My son and I have lived in the community since 1996.During the turn of the last century, Ravenna was home to the elite, rich and famous! If you were part of this elite bunch, people all over knew 'you' made it if you were so fortunate to live in this wonderful community. Today, Ravenna still offers that 'home' town feel. The neighbors are friendly and the whole town treats one another like old friends and family. Here in Ravenna, Trick or Treat is the ideal location as there are side walks and the community comes together and participates in the fun going all out while the local police patrol the area so everyone is safe. The annual balloon-a-thon is a must for all ages. Ravenna boast a brand new state of the art movie theater for matinees, family nights, date night or just hang out with friends and see the latest release. Or if your in the mood during the spring, summer and early fall, you can visit the old fashioned 'drive in movie theater', one of the last ones remaining in the entire country. While many senior citizens have been born and raised right here in this great community of Ravenna, still the younger generation will find it's very family friendly atmosphere with the local park, good school system, local library, family/ friendly feel and great place to raise your children very. appealing, Itt has all the latest life has to offer while still giving you that 'yester-year feel` from times long past."

"About 10 minutes in any direction are restaurants and groceries stores but about 45 minutes to get to a major city like Cleveland or Akron. Industrial areas are about 10-15 minutes away also. Very close to the turnpike but far enough away that you can't hear it or get affected by traffic. "

"I've lived in this area for almost 8 years and there really isn't any crime, people pretty much mind their own business but keep an eye on the neighborhood and the kids that are always playing outside. "
