8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have had a 5 star experience at this school. For a public school we believe they have performed better than the local private schools in so many areas. They are very good at communication and when there have been discrepancies they have been accountable in every way. Their approach to education is progressive and my daughter did very well academically while attending this school, compared to her time at the local catholic school, learning is fun! They offer great after school clubs where the children are celebrated for being a member. They offer celebrations and social events throughout the year - we have lived our time here!Parent Review6y ago2 Reviews - Central Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter came to Central from Lake Street in Crown Point, and we have been beyond disappointed. I really thought the community of Valparaiso was moving in the right direction and seemed to have ample funding. I was so, terribly wrong. She spent almost the entire first half of her first grade going over things she had already learned, is very bored, they don’t seem to go too far into critical thinking skills, and there isn’t really homework. The funding is absolutely lacking, and there are virtually no events the school offers. They didn’t even have a Christmas program. Their approach to academics is sub par and it’s shame that so much money has been funneling into the town and none of it is going to the schools. We had higher hopes, as we love the downtown, but we are seriously looking at other schools to move to. My children deserve a better education than what this school has to offer.Parent Review8y ago4 Reviews - Valparaiso High School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI think I overall enjoyed all four years of my time at this school. The lunch could be better. I had a ton of great teachers throughout the years and avoided the few bad ones who I can't name here, but seriously a ton of the teachers are super nice and cool if you get to know them. The school itself is really high quality and well built, it has pretty comfortable chairs and tables in each room (except the stools in the art rooms, sorry art kids. Also Teal 102, that room sucks.) The student body is varied and (mostly) nice, and I think every student should be able to find a group they can fit in with and make friends with relatively easily. Fights are rare, and classes are pretty calm, everything is under control very well in my opinion. There's a ton of great options for classes and vacationals, my long-distance friends are always a little jealous when I talked about this school lol. Overall, I'd highly recommend this school.Other Review11mo ago16 Reviews - Check out schools near 304 Union St.

"I have dogs but I rarely walk them in my subdivision because it’s so boring. I take my dogs in some of the older neighborhoods because there are more places for my dogs to pee on and it’s a lot more interesting. "

"I couldnt see why they would not like it. The people are friendly and the area is clean. The only issue I could ever see is maybe above average traffic at certain rush hour times. Beyond that I really wouldn't see any issue with the neighborhood."
