As a follow-up to my review last year.....My son has still not read any books in his English classes, although he is doing well at plugging along on Teachers-pay-teachers curriculum. Really, every other class has been well run and effective. I am SERIOUSLY concerned with how he will do in high school English. When I attended Garvey we had to read a novel every 2 or 3 weeks.....wow how times have changed.Maybe the admin can chime in on why they are not reading books? Why do you have a library?

I am a former student at this school. I would highly recommend your children go to a different school, up until grade 5 the school starts to show its many flaws. To begin with, the 5th grade teachers can be mean to your children. when I went here for 5th grade the teachers used fear to get the students to do what they wanted. They used a blue paper called a blue sheet, which you would write what you did wrong and acknowledge what you did wrong, but it never works on student because they just space out their letters, so it looks like they wrote a whole paragraph. Furthermore, the 6th grade has two teachers one good teacher and 1 bad teacher. One of the 6th teachers isn't organized and doesn't care about bullying or discrimination. The school doesn't take bullying seriously and doesn't have family engaging events. The learning environments are hostile, and most of the teachers are mean. I didn't have a good experience when I went here and lots of people agree with me. I hope that you consider taking your child to this school.
