I went to Morrice all my school years. I remember being bored from kindergarten on up. We didn’t learn half the things kids in other schools learned. I still look at the Facebook statuses of people I graduated with and noticed the most basic grammatical and spelling errors. I got into a good university after school, but it was no thanks to my guidance counselor. I went out on my own and explored schools and figure out how to get into college by myself. Morrice also provided no scholarships or any other help. Some of the high school teachers were fun and engaging. Unfortunately, school spirit doesn’t exactly contribute to intelligence. Most of us graduated without the most basic understandings of history, geography, biology was only taken if you elected to, chemistry and other core skills that are needed to build upon in college. This made college more work for me, as I had to teach myself the basic foundations before building upon that to learn what college wanted us to already know. Most people that graduate from here don’t go to college. Don’t limit your children.

I graduated from Morrice High School and continued my education to earn two bachelor degrees from Michigan State University. My children now attend Morrice Elementary School. I absolutely love the school, staff and this community. I know first hand that a small school can offer a great education and prepare children for success as adults. Go Orioles!
