"nice neighbors, clean, good school, lots of trees, close to major highways and shopping, lots of coffee shops"
  • Trulia User
"I don’t live or have ever lived in this neighborhood… I only visit for the shopping center & restaurants but feel it’s a nice, safe and frequented area. "
  • Trulia User
"I travel by car and bicycle, but the transit system is very responsive. I believe that this area is a great area to live and I would recommend it to anyone."
  • Trulia User
"Good size yards and people are always out walking their dogs. People pick up after their dogs as well"
  • Wda4
"Easy access to all the major highways. Also can drive through town easily when traffic backed up in highway. "
  • Blmurguia
"Trick or treating on Halloween, Fourth of July bonanza at pillow elementary are the only two events that I know of. "
  • lucichu
"Pillow elementary has a 4th of July celebration and every spring there is a neighborhood garage sale. "
  • Hazza87
"It’s great. I like it a lot. Loads of shops and restaurants near by. Less traffic than south Austin. "
  • Csschi
"Close to bus stops, local shopping/dining and The Domain. Walkable, quiet neighborhood. Friendly neighbors. Easy access to downtown via Mopac...10 minutes by car in light traffic. Burnet is developing. West Anderson has Hop Doddy, Alamo Drafthouse and other good but less known restaurants."
  • Hazza87
"It’s close to downtown but not too close. It doesn’t have to deal with the awful 35 traffic. There’s plenty of restaurants, bars and shops nearby. Good schools. Affordable. "
  • Crystalmancillas9
"I’ve lived here for 9 years and it’s a pretty amazing neighborhood. The people are so nice and the community. "
  • Laurel D.
"Ive lived here for almost 9 mos. I feel safe letting my child play in the front yard even if I’m inside the house. Traffic is very minimal and people are friendly."
  • Dylan B.
"The yards are very dog friendly, and there are many dog owners walking every evening. The playground and track at Pillow Elementary are also a great place for fetch. Some streets have sidewalks, but not all, so some of the higher-traffic streets are a little sketchy for dog walking, but not too bad."
  • Jack S.
"Nice parks where you can walk your dogs and take a break."
  • Natalie B.
"It's quite walkable, and there is easy access to green spaces for dogs to enjoy. A nearby place called Yard Bar is like a dog park and a bar/restaurant for humans."
  • Natalie B.
"My neighborhood is just on the cusp between the eclectic urban offerings of Austin and the suburban luxuries of big chain shopping, which is great because I want the best of both worlds! North Shoal Creek is also seeing more of the expansion northward of the eclectic urban offerings, but the charm of the neighborhood hasn't been lost."
  • Jack S.
"Lovely tree lined streets and gorgeous parks. I love going to the park and and swimming in the pools."
  • Dylan B.
"It has the feel of an established Austin neighborhood (with most of the houses built in the '70s) but with the excitement that comes from a lot of growth and development. It feels protected from the hustle and bustle of truly urban life but still very close to lots of entertainment, restaurants, and necessities. The North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Association puts on a few events each calendar year, including a 4th of July parade, a neighborhood-wide garage sale, and a Luminaria Walk. And a recently built community garden is a great new element."
  • Natalie B.
"Just like everywhere else in Austin, if you leave at the wrong time, the commute sucks. But if you leave at the right time, it's super easy to get where you want to go quickly and without having to take any major highways."
  • Dylan B.
"I work downtown. It is predictably 25 minutes, with the occasional slowdown. The proximity of the neighborhood to both MoPac and 183 gives lots of options."
  • Jack S.
"Too much traffic on Shoal Creek Boulevard and in the surrounding neighborhoods."
  • Jack S.
"Good schools, a low level of crime, and nice parks."
  • Natalie B.
"There are more and more young families moving into this neighborhood, and it feels very safe. That said, we get our fair share of vagrants wandering the streets, though I've never had any issues or concerns for my safety."
  • Dylan B.
"There's an elementary school in the middle of the neighborhood, and it is zoned for Anderson High School."
