"It’s a nice neighborhood. It’s up-and-coming at the end of the day. No neighborhood is perfect but it is a comfortable neighborhood. As far as racism is concerned it’s mixed, but I know a lot of Latinos in this neighborhood that are good people."
  • Joslynn Smathers
"Public transit is not as it should be. That being said, the city of West Sacramento has a free “uberish” kind of van locals can call for a free ride. I mostly see people using it for groceries and going to the post office. "
  • Pzfq4kt8pb
"Full of construction work being done and transients on every corner asking for money. Traveling within the city is full of pot holes and they do not seem to be fixing them any time soon. West sacramento is conveniently close to downtown sacramento and houses the rivercats team "
  • Ccmatz80
"Most people have their dogs on leashes. There are two good sized dog parks. There are, however, a fair amount of dogs running loose and lost pets."
  • Martin Ruz
"There are a lot of trees, tall ones, and wide streets. Old West Sacramento is a beautiful area. Access to the neighborhood is fast and suitable. "
  • Trulia User
"I lived here going on my seventh year. I love it here the people are friendly. The neighborhood is very suburb like and I love the suburbs kids running playing, laughing, skipping, jumping it’s a wonderful place to raise kids walk your dog walk to the store but yet it still has a country."
  • Trulia User
"Nice area. I have lived here for six years and feel very comfortable. It is safe and very quiet at night. "
  • Trulia User
"Our neighborhood is family oriented, dog friendly, and safe. It is also near shopping for daily needs. "
  • Trulia User
" I lived here years ago and I'm trying to move back just a wonderful atmosphere and Broderick is only improving even more beautiful each and every day. "
  • Trulia User
"This is a dog friendly neighborhood, I see a lot of people walking their dogs and there is a dog park a few blocks away. "
  • Trulia User
"You see people walking their dogs all the time, even at night. The dogs are well-trained. There is plenty of green space in the neighborhood and a great dog park nearby on Stone Blvd. "
  • Trulia User
"Holidays are celebrated, like 4th of July, Halloween for the children and families Thanksgiving & Christmas."
  • Trulia User
" very quiet safe and loving community. I love living in a area where I can walk down the street and feel safe. "
  • Trulia User
"I have lived here for about two years and really enjoy it. Great people in the neighborhood and it is a great location."
  • Trulia User
"Neighbors are very nice, great people in the area. Everyone looks after eachother and it is a great place to live."
  • Trulia User
"There are people here and there that really put effort in to the community though I feel the majority of the residents do not do much to support. As with most cities, you have the good and the bad. West Sacramento has been going on a downward slide as the population increases. I have lived here for about 35 years."
  • Trulia User
"There are good and bad areas in every town. I have lived here most my life and it is a good town with good people for the most part. But you will still find, as you will in most places, parts of the town that are less than desirable areas to live."
  • Trulia User
"I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 9 years and it has been great. It is growing, so that could be a pro or con. Family-friendly, pet-friendly, and a lot of people out and about."
  • Trulia User
"Dogs are welcome around the neighborhood. Great neighborhood to walk/exercise in. Quiet, not a bunch of weirdos around either..."
  • Trulia User
"Most of the area near Evergreen is very family friendly and relatively safe in comparison to other areas. However, I've lived off of W Capitol for 5 years, and it's always been pretty quiet until recently, an issue I have is the increase in petty crime and homeless encroachment. The parks and complexes are overrun and filthy now. The trailer parks that used to be clean and well kept are now the stereotype of what people think of trailer parks. I've since bought a house in Natomas and will not look back. "
  • SteelerEd
"The Santa drive through on top of the Fire Dept. engine every Christmas makes for a great evening. Elves follow Santa and hand out candy canes and collect food donations from families."
  • SteelerEd
"Long commute just to get out of the neighborhood. The traffic and the traffic signals make it a challenge to get to the freeway in 20 minutes."
  • Waleed O.
"Not many children live in West Sacramento. Schools aren’t as great as other areas. Overall, a good town with open space to play and do outdoor activities. "
  • Paula M.
"People watch out for each other and celebrate holidays with each other. Christmas decorations, firehouse drives by with Santa on the fire engine. "
  • Stargazer9984
"There are many families with young kids in the neighborhood. There are also nice parks and outdoor activities in walking or biking distance. It is close to old sacramento, the river, and downtown sacramento for activities or day outings. "
  • Gavin W.
"cap yard has some nice community amenities. and walking distance to drakes barn which is family friendly with good food and drinks with activities. "
  • Manny P.
"It’s a good place if u don’t mind living on the Main Street. Stores are nearby 4 mins from the freeway "
  • Alexandria K.
"great but the community doesn't come together in things and our neighborhood is getting worse. no stores in the area like malls or grocery stores "
  • Kylinda A.
"A lot of older people live here. Most are good people!! Shopping centers near and lots of food places. Schools are okish. Basic safety needs like locking doors including locking up vehicles."
  • Shauna R.
"Public transit is close by along with freeway access. Downtown and the river are close enough to walk to also"
  • Shauna R.
"There are plenty of animal lovers around. lots of parks to take dogs to. I got lots of help when my dog was missing. "
  • Stef G. C.
"The neighbors are very nosy and the stare a lot. It’s not a bad neighborhood though. Everyone usually knows each other small town. "
  • Christi S.
"Lots of dogs out for walks morning, during day, and evening! And nearby dog park with dogs and families always there! "
  • SteelerEd
"Close walk to dog park, park, high school and elementary school. Quiet and home values are trending up!"
  • Stef G. C.
"It’s needs a few clean up but it’s a decent neighborhood. But be careful about having bikes out. A lot of people tend to steal them"
  • Lynniecarp
"Awesome! About 6 miles to downtown Sacramento. Couldn’t be better! Love it in West Sacramento! Close to everything! "
  • Cassetta13
"Only been here a year. Love it! So peaceful, yet so close to downtown. I’m talking about Southport area, Broderick and that side is horrible "
  • Prscustom
"Great small groups of friendly neighbors who care. Kids play outside and areas are safe. Our neighborhood is fantastic!"
