What Locals Say about Elgin

  • Marquita Riley
"Quiet. There are a number of dogs in the area but they aren’t loose. This neighborhood feels like home."

"Dogs are welcomed and loved throughout the neighborhood. We have 2 and they love it here. Plus most dog owners clean up."

"No sidewalks to walk dogs but most people are courteous enough to slow down while driving past people out walking their animals. However there are also several people who do not respect speed limits and drive way too fast for comfort. Not only on the back roads (which are usually 45-50 mph), but even in some of the neighborhoods too which are marked at 35 mph or slower. So it just depends on the specific area. Also it’s the country so people let their pets roam free which can occasionally cause issues for those walking leashed dogs. "

"There isn’t a dog park and there are not many dogs in our specific subdivision. I don’t own pets and I honestly don’t know what dog owners would like and not like about our neighborhood."

"Ive lived here for 16 years. This neighborhood is very friendly and we all care about each other. We take care of our properties and we will take care of our neighbors property when they are hurt or ill. Everyone rides golf carts and walks their dogs. It’s really great. "

"they're allowed. I have mine in a nice environment. on the back patio screened in in a large kennel. shaded. easy to keep clean. hes out of the heat. and the bugs cant get to him. he cant get into the ant killer I put down outside his pen. easy to bathe him. bugs dont get in his food. he has his own little living area. and that's one of the big things I'm looking for when buying a home. during the winter I can close it off to the winter elements and heat it. he has a house and bed. and plenty of room to play with all his toys and it gave him room to get to know my niece. I'm so glad his able to be apart of our family."
