A first floor guest rooms opens to a deck, outdoor shower and a stunning lilac and day lily garden. Upstairs, you'll find another guest bedroom and a bunkroom that sleeps three. A library/media room with a skylight and Victorian-era Shelter Island salvaged doors opens to the captain's walk balcony. A convenient laundry room with an Electrolux washer-dryer completes the main house, while the two- story shingled garage offers a sun-splashed space with floor-to-ceiling hand-milled paned-glass windows, water and electricity that's perfect as a home office, artist's studio or fitness room. A private lane shaded by leafy beech trees meanders through the 2.6 acres of perennial gardens, lawns, climbing roses and 30-foot tall Himalayan rhododendron entwined with wisteria. Nestled on a secluded bonus parcel, the gunite pool is wrapped by a wide brick sun deck and encircled by sky blue hydrangea and mature specimen trees. This home's extensive upgrades include a new German-built fuel tank, Rheem water heater, pool heater and pump, updated cesspool and Orangeburg pipe, and a new well for onsite water. "Running on the beachโ€ฆ before 9AM or after 6PM in summer. There are plenty of dog owners in the neighborhood to befriend. There are also a good number of dog groomers in the area if that is needed for your dog. "
  • Trulia User
"Great place altogether, very comfortable and relaxed. "
  • Danielle
"No street lights so no walking or riding at night. Very little or no real frond to speak of around here. There were car break ins last spring and summer but other wise itโ€™s always been pretty quiet. "
  • Danielle
"There are no street lights so itโ€™s not safe to walk or ride at night. Itโ€™s fairly safe as far as crimes goes. Over the past year there had been car break ins but no home burglaries. "
  • Danielle
"Certain roads are good for walking dogs but not Long Lane and Cedar. There are no sidewalks and the traffic is heavy. There are plenty of spots to drive your dog to for a good leash walk. "
  • Danielle D.
"Iโ€™ve lived here for over 25 years. Itโ€™s a unique area. Iโ€™m on Long Lane itโ€™s mostly agricultural and commercial. The traffic can be heavy at certain times of the year due to the high school and the commercial nurseries. But the trade off is worth it. I love it because itโ€™s still feels rural. I have learned to live with the dust and diesels because itโ€™s so close to town but isnโ€™t overly suburbanized. You have to still have some grit to live here. "
  • Trulia User
"There is lot of families but there isnโ€™t parks or entertainment places for people to go with their kids "
  • Leonora.loeb
"Safe and friendly! Parks, beaches, day camps, horseback riding, and even a frequently used skate park are great places for kids in the area"
  • Georgie
"Everyone is very polite and friendly, and so are their dogs. Lots of older couples, families and kids. "
  • Hansbald
"Many people walk their dogs on our quiet streets. Short drive to the beach where the dogs can run free at certain times."
  • Julie H.
"Very nice surroundings. Iโ€™ve lived here my whole life. Best place to be all year round. Very nice people who live here. "
