We moved here for the school district 15 years ago and it has exceeded our expectations, from Paumanok to West Hollow and High School East. Communication from the school was always excellent and the principals, assistant principals and teachers were always attentive and gave my children extra learning opportunities where they could thrive. The district also offers every activity and elective you can think of and, if a club or interest isn’t represented, it’s easy to start one. My oldest will be attending an Ivy League university next year, as are many friends. More importantly, the school has reinforced the values we teach my girls at home about the importance of inclusion and embracing diversity.

This is a sorry excuse for an elementary school.I can say without a doubt that they do not establish a safe, or nurturing environment.The teachers are least bothered with the seriously substandard quality of language. Cursing, or sexual comments are not addressed with students at all! Their approach to such issues involve asking the students on the receiving end to cope with it rather than establish corrective actions. Let me spare you from the poor quality education. Teachers do not spend time needed to help children understand concepts. It is their way of establishing extra income through tutoring. Children feel threatened to ask questions. It’s heart breaking to see how emotional my child gets when we wrap up the weekend and get ready for Monday. He counts down to Friday and dreads this entire school experience.

I find it the teachers at West Hollow middle school to be very friendly and supportive of my children. Very good school, good teachers and good principle.
