Description

The Kind of Home You're Known For — Cozy, Timeless, and Impossible to Recreate

Imagine starting your mornings on the welcoming arched front porch of 2896 Post Street, coffee in hand, as the air feels fresh and the neighborhood slowly comes to life beneath a canopy of mature trees. With its steeper roofline, cottage-style proportions, and glowing Tennessee pink marble exterior, this 1930s Riverside home offers a rare blend of warmth, character, and quiet presence — the kind of house that feels inviting before you ever step inside.

At just under 2,000 square feet, the home lives beautifully, offering a cozy, cottage-like feel without sacrificing space. Inside, large windows fill the rooms with natural light, original hardwood floors ground the space, and thoughtful details reflect the home's era and craftsmanship. The living room centers around a dramatic pink marble fireplace — a true statement piece that anchors the home and gives it a personality that new construction simply can't match.

An elegant arched opening connects the living room to the dining room, where evenings naturally gather beneath the soft glow of a vintage chandelier. Original doors with crystal knobs add subtle charm throughout the home tactile reminders of the care taken to preserve its history. This is the kind of home you're known for the one guests remember, talk about, and quietly wish was theirs.

The primary suite offers a peaceful retreat, complete with a walk-in closet and a full en-suite bath featuring beautifully preserved original tilework. Two additional bedrooms provide comfortable space for guests, creativity, or everyday living.

The kitchen honors the home's historic soul while offering modern reliability. Just off the kitchen, a classic butler's pantry provides flexible space that can be used as a breakfast nook, coffee station, or additional storage, adding to the home's thoughtful flow and everyday livability. A newer HVAC system ensures year-round comfort throughout the home.

A climate-controlled attic space adds valuable conditioned storage ideal for keeping seasonal items, keepsakes, or overflow neatly tucked away while maintaining the home's clean, uncluttered feel.

Set on a corner lot, the property offers rare breathing room in Riverside, along with side-drive access to a coveted two-car garage an uncommon convenience in this walkable, tree-lined neighborhood within an A-rated school district.

Step outside and you're moments from King Street cafés and breweries, Avondale's boutiques, and Murray Hill's Edgewood Avenue scene. With easy access to I-10, I-95, and Highway 17, downtown Jacksonville and the beaches are always within reach.

Priced at $444,900, this proudly registered Riverside Avondale Preservation home has been thoughtfully preserved with care and restraint, keeping as much of its original character intact as possible. Cozy, original, and impossible to recreate today because homes with this kind of charm, craftsmanship, and presence simply aren't built anymore.

Homes like this don't come along often.
And once you step inside, it's hard to imagine it belonging to anyone else.

"I don’t really want to answer this portion of the questionnaire but appreciate that you’re taking this survey. "
  • Trulia User
"Alot of people own dogs and walk dogs around this area. There are nice parks where dogs can walk, run, and play. "
  • Trulia User
"There are lots of Parks and lots of dogs. No fenced dog park areas which would Be nice. It’s very green. "
  • Trulia User
"I wouldn't call Riverside a "family" based side of town. It certainly can sire a family, but I wouldn't recommend the public schools here for kids. It's getting very crowded in Riverside, and I've lived here for over 20 years. However, if you're a young couple starting out, or in college with roomies, then it's very inviting, the night life is nice, plenty of hot spots, restaurants, shopping, live music etc. This side of town is for rich folk who's kids have moved out, or for young adults."
  • Trulia User
"Sidewalks almost everywhere. People are generally responsible about their dogs. Very few strays or loose dogs. People are concerned if they do appear. Lots of parks and green space. "
  • Trulia User
"An historic ‘traditional’ neighborhood with an eclectic mix of architecture, single family and multiple family residences, parks, restaurants and shopping. A mix of socioeconomic and demographic groups create a diverse community. Lots of pets, festivals, markets and neighborhood events. "
  • Trulia User
"I’ve lived in Riverside Avondale Historic District for over 20 years. I love the architecture and history of the area, the neighbors, the walkability, having grocery, dining, boutiques within walking distance. I love the parks, the River, and being able to walk my dogs and interact with neighbors. It’s a great place to live! "
  • Baggettm

  • Chelsea M. B.
"It has easy access to most areas of town. I'm in the center between family, friends, downtown, and work."
  • Robert E. S.
"I lived here 25 years ago and am drawn to move back. Trees and old buildings are the lure. Now many more shops and restaurants."
  • Alyssa M.
"we have block parties for major holidays and events, lots of parks, tons of local businesses, a big art community, river access"
  • Julia G. R.
"There are many parks, a library, ice cream and other restaurants that are kid-friendly. The neighborhood is full of sidewalks, which enable exploration by foot or bike or scooter. There aren’t many quiet streets to let kids ride bikes freely, but you can find some less busy, more protected streets if you look around. "
  • Jessica S.
"Up and coming area, aka gentrification is happening at an increasing rate, but still a lot of violent crimes occur. Most crimes are petty theft or general vandalism."
  • Flsummergirl
"Car needed, my drive to work is fifteen minutes long. Fuller Warren bridge can get backed up during rush hour."
  • Mylenewatson
"Riverside is a nice homey place where I also raised my two boys. I miss that place. Riverside is where my heart is"
  • Sean W.
"Diverse and friendly neighborhood with lots of cool bars and restaurants. Very close to downtown and employment."
  • Mylenewatson
"Hometown feeling. I love it. People look out for each other. I would love to go back and live here. "
  • Roosterfrg
"Art’s market is nice on Saturday’s, we have a dog park , the local restaurants have special things like trivia night and wine tasting. "

  • Carol B.
"There are many parks in our wonderful neighborhood. We also have many activities and festivals within walking distance. I love that you don’t have to drive everywhere, just take a short walk to the grocery, ice cream, or pizza place. This neighborhood has it all. "
  • Percykingjd
"I've lived in the neighborhood for a few months and like it so far. However, the street noise is a little bit much as people drive fast at night and it's often difficult to pull out of my parking space."
  • Wanda C.
"Walkable and lifestyle. You never have to leave the,are a unless you choose to. Absolutely everything is here. Great for walking and biking!"
