I chose this school for my kids because it taught traditional curriculum, was a larger campus (was originally built to be an elementary and middle school together), had a lot of clubs/sports and a gifted program, and a low student/teacher ratio. It was great in the beginning, but in the past 5 years this has all changed. I don’t know if it’s because of budget cuts, but even teachers I know personally that work there have warned me about how it’s going downhill. They do common core math, no longer have a gifted program, no morning recess, gave up completely on my son who struggled (is doing very well at Cooley now, btw), and has frequent issues with kids bullying or being inappropriate and some teacher’s attitudes to the point of apathy. I’ve had 4 kids go through this school and have talked to plenty of other parents with the same opinion ( quite a few have actually chosen to put their child at another school) so I know this isn’t a unique situation.

Homeschooling would definitely be a better choice. The staff and definitely the superintendent are very aggressive. Sports are a big no at this school as they lack care for human life.

My experience at Cooley has been extremely negative. Students have given me death threats, cyberbullied me online, leaked my face without consent, and even physically assaulted me. Instead of addressing these serious issues, the school’s response was to give me a “lunch reflection” as if I was the problem.While some staff members are nice on the surface, they do not actually help when it matters. Many students are incredibly disrespectful, and it makes me question the point of the “Cobra Creed” when almost no one follows it. The environment is toxic, filled with racism and constant use of racial slurs directed at me, even though I rarely speak to anyone.The school gives the appearance that they care, but in reality, they ignore the bigger issues. Overall, this has been one of the most unsafe and hostile school environments I’ve ever experienced.
