"their isn't many community events around hillyard that I'm aware of, other than the churches. Its not somewhere people feel safe enough to have a special event for the community."
  • Trulia User
"Trick or treating and bbq’s. We all look out for our families, and for each other’s. I have lived on the north side most of my life "
  • Trulia User
"There’s always people walking their dogs or kids. It’s actually a good neighborhood and it keeps getting better all the time!"
  • Trulia User
"I see people walking thief dogs all the time. There are several parks are n this area. most of the people around here follow the minditory leash law with their dogs. "
  • Trulia User
"I love how Hillyard days has officially became a traditional event and hippy days. lilac parade local police station. "
  • Trulia User
"i no longer live here. it used to be a young family, a starter neighborhood, but the urban crime and urban decay, most houses are rentals with landlords that have no pride or care"
  • Cecelia11_22
"I personally drive 25 to 30 minutes to get to work. I am stuck it’s worth it for me because of where I work. But the great thing about the Hillyard area is that there is tons of public transportation to get you just about anywhere you need to go. "
  • Cecelia11_22
"They walk dogs and have them in the yards. I do see some dogs get loose sometimes. I actually almost hit a puppy on Crestline the other day. All the traffic slowed down to keep it safe for the puppy as it was in the street. "
  • Cecelia11_22
"Dog owners would feel welcomed. Just about everyone around me has dogs and I see people walk their dogs sometimes (I work a lot so I’m not home a lot during the day.)"
  • Cecelia11_22
"We have the Hillyard fest at the end of each summer. It is a fun family event that has local people come together and entertain the neighborhood. We also have a farmers market and a Chalk Walk. "
  • Dcgaming2001
"This neighborhood has no special events. I have lived here for 16 yrs and nothing special happens around here."
  • Sandysandyb370
"I moved into this neighborhood last November and in less then a year my immediate neighborhood has changed drastically. It is gentrifying all by itself..a factor that delights me. There was a house full of tweakers next door but they are (all) gone now..thank u sheriff..now if we move the free food distributions to a more evenly spaced location this neighborhood will rock!!!"
  • D
"There is a lot of drugs and thieves in this area sadly, I wouldn’t recommend living within the area. "
  • W
"very busy area.cars speed by quickly to get to store. traffic light causes back ups and accidents. neighbors are polite and friendly. "
  • Jason D.
"Best place to find the most genuine down to earth folks. Not like perry district or south hill where people are snobs. "
  • Marriedmudders
"plenty of areas to walk your dogs. I see a lot of people walking/running their dogs, when we walk our dogs, or are out walking, we see many homes with dogs."
  • Marriedmudders
"Hillyard Festival, Hillyard days, Jim Hill Days, Forth of July Parade, many other small community minded events and services ate offered or located in yhis historic part of Spokane WA."
  • Marriedmudders
"Most families that live here have at least 1 dog. It is my feeling that the dog ownership in this area is directly related to the low property crime. We have lived here in this area for several decades and have yet had any property crime."
  • cecelia11_22
"I love how just a block north of where I live it is like country living. People own chickens, horses, donkeys etc. and most of the properties have more land than most of the average properties in town. So you get country living smack dab in town. How awesome is that!?! The only thing is that everyone wants to live there so the homes that do go up for sale are expensive and go fast. It’s a great place to live though:)"
