OPEN HOUSE
Sunday, Open House, 0412/16, 11:00AM -12:00PM.

Recently updated cottage comes with an outdoor sitting area, under redwood trees in the middle of Berkeley, just five blocks from the UC campus! This large and airy cottage is nestled into the large backyard of a classic Victorian home. Set back from the street behind redwoods and an ancient olive tree, it's like living in your own little house, including an outdoor patio and sitting area, plus enough garden space to plant some beds with flowers, herbs, or veggies (if you so desire).
Everything was new and upgraded in 2024: New tiles, countertops, and cabinets in the kitchen, tiled shower in the BA, hardwood floor in the living room and all bedrooms, plenty of skylights with views into the redwoods, new Fridge and Washer/Dryer, and fresh new paint everywhere. Plus plenty of storage, both inside the cottage and out.
The airy kitchen features a gas stove and refrigerator, plenty of new cabinets, and a new skylight. The bathroom is separated into two areas by a sliding door; the first has a sink and the laundry (washer/dryer), and the next has the toilet and shower. To the left of the kitchen is the living room and three bedrooms (or office spaces). The third, smaller bedroom is at the very back of the cottage and could also be used as an office or exercise studio.
There is a large picture window in the living room, many skylights looking up into redwood trees, and several doors leading outside to the patio. The patio is surrounded by vines and shaded by lovely redwoods and a fig tree, with room for grilling and eating outside and a cat or small dog to play.
The pictures shows the cottage empty and highlight the various upgrades.
Great location close to campus, restaurants, cafes, and the Elmwood. The cottage has its own new washer and dryer. The cottage includes one off-street parking spot in the shared driveway. Bicycle parking (and storgae) behind the cottage in a safe and roofed place.

The three students who lived here for several years have graduated and moved on to new jobs. We've completed some repairs and the cottage is empty and available now. Please come to the open house (see below) or send me an email via Craigslist if you are interested in a showing.

The cottage is located at 2609A Dana Street (between Parker and Carleton). Walk up the driveway (on the right of the house) to the carport; the cottage is the building on the right. It is fine to drive by but please do not disturb the current tenants.

"The neighborhood is super friendly great people great environment love living in the bay. It is a really nice place. I would not want to live anywhere else."
  • Trulia User
"you see people with all walks of dogs around. most are considerate with picking up with their dogs but you do have to watch out as well."
  • Trulia User
"Great access to public transit, both bus and BART, with good bikes lanes as well. There is also a ferry in the Berkeley marina"
  • Trulia User
"The residents are nice people and there’s a good number of kids. But there are often transients walking through the area."
  • Nayana S.
"Great place to take dogs around as this place is lot like homely and much green bushes. I have seen many dogs walking in the neighbourhood "
  • Torrence P.
"Lots of things to see and do. Diverse and vibrant. It does get loud at night. Public transportation is excellent. "
  • Sara M.
"Lots of students in the area because of the proximity to UC Berkeley. Its also a very political area, marches and cops and helicopters are not uncommon in response to the political climate. "
  • Poppop g. a. t.
"I lived in this neighborhood for 3 years. Since it's just south of the UC Berkeley campus, there is a lot of foot traffic and noise when school is in session. Mostly students live in this neighborhood but there are a ton of homeless people lying on the sidewalks and they can get pretty aggressive. Plenty of cheap restaurants catering to students as well."
  • Rolf
"Great walkable neighborhood with lovely historical homes. Very diverse community."
  • Rolf
"Berkeley has high property taxes with the outcome of good public services and excellent schools. This part of south Berkeley is bicycle friendly with great grocery stores (perhaps the best options in the State!) plus neighbors who walk and know each other. A very enjoyable & diverse neighborhood."
  • Misha
"A perfect 10-15 minute walk to the Cal Campus or the upscale, but delicious Elmwood area. Animal friendly neighborhood, with a fairly strong neighborhood association. The Julia Morgan Theater and Benvenue Public Library as well as excellent schools are just some of the treasures of this area."
