9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attended Richland Avenue Elementary School for Kindergarten and part of 1st grade before moving out-of-state. As a bilingual family (French + English) we were happy to find a public bilingual charter school near the area. The facilities are great, the teachers and staff are friendly and kind to the children, and for the most part my son had a great time.I think the bilingual program could be improved. It starts with a French teacher and an English teacher essentially splitting the time. In our case, our son was already bilingual, but for children learning French for the first time, more time spent learning French at first is a better-functioning immersion program. His French Kindergarten teacher Madame Kort was nice, but she is not a good speaker of the French language. Her classes seemed to be more chaotic while the English teacher was more effective at teaching children of this age.The French teacher in 1st grade was fantastic! Madame Elodie was a true french speaker who knew how to teach the kids. Our son excelled more in 1st grade than Kindergarten, so I guess that's the tradeoff...every year you never know what you're gonna get.Other than that, the class food is disgusting and the city of LA should make more of an effort to teach kids the importance of healthy eating. Aside from those complaints, our son had a great time and made many friends. We miss our Richland family!Parent Review2mo ago50 Reviews - University Senior High School Charter

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is disproportionately minority students and caters to kids who are not white and straight. I constantly get messages about equity and inclusion and how I should support it but nothing ever about how to protect all student from the weekly fights that take place between non-white students. The Spanish teacher (chair of the Spanish Dept.) has an LGBTQ flag in her classroom that she took down for back to school night when parents were going to be at the school. The next day, she put it back up. Strange. Seems she’s hiding something. Patents are not made to feel welcome and are questioned at the entrance upon showing ID. I’m surprised they’re not frisked, which is what should be done with most of the students. They also got rid of school security for the 2022-23 school year and fights broke out weekly, if not more, between non-white students. Our child won’t be returning.Parent Review2y ago29 Reviews - Daniel Webster Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTerrible school and structure, the teachers does not teach, the staff does not provide emotional support and safety every day there is a fight. staff only concerned with making money off the parents every week they are selling snacks and expect 6th and 7th grade to find 8th grade activities it’s ridiculous. on the first orientation meeting the signs were there webster wasn’t a great school the principal ms bell walks around like she’s confident she is handling the school but she’s not she then presented a power point that never worked, said goodbye as if she was leaving the auditorium then proceeded to stay. she looks nervous and unsure about her job. the teachers aren’t teaching!!! they wanted the parents to pay for p e clothes but the kids never changed clothes and participated in pe they claim they didn’t have enough staff to execute this. my child came home every day with a new story: kids vaping, kids being sexually inappropriate, and how kids brings weapons to webster. even was advised someone was stabbed last year. during orientation i asked why the school has no cameras i didn’t receive an answer. eventually i pulled my child out after all these instancesParent Review2mo ago21 Reviews - Check out schools near 2606 Purdue Ave.

"I work less then a mile from home so my commute is about 3-5 minutes normally. But if I get caught in that good old Los Angeles traffic that 3-5 minutes can quickly turn into 15. Keep in mind that’s only .07 miles away from home. "

"Lots of kids of all ages in the area. I feel like things can be a little unsafe to let your kids walk the streets alone with all the homeless that are on camped up but if they are in a group they are safer."

"I’d hate to tell everyone how nice of a place MV is because more people may want to move here, and traffic is still traffic - but it’s nice. It’s centrally located to the highways, shops, eateries, & the beach. "

"Busses sometimes don’t shown up and are often early or late, which has caused me to plan an extra bus trip to work. I live in mar vista and commute to downtown Santa Monica. But hey they are free and the newer busses are so nice. Also often times they aren’t too packed which is nice."

"Hoping to be able to afford to live here someday. We don’t want to leave! Bike paths, food, bars, easy access freeways and a lot of social events. Love this community and hope to raise a family here in the near future. Plus, I’m born and raised SoCal and never plan on leaving. You can’t beat the beach and going to the mountains in the same day. Warm weather and a tight knit community make living here so great. Hope this helps anyone who’s looking to buy or rent in the future. And make sure to go down Ocean Park Boulevard to the beach! Great parking and a very cute park at the end. Plus, Main Street has a ton of restaurants. Happy buying/renting! "
