My daughter loves this school after going to private school for 2 years. Teachers are great and she learns alot more here.

This school went above and beyond in preparing me for high school. Because the Middle school and the High school are in the same building, 8th graders ride the bus along with the high schoolers. The early wakeup time in 8th grade helps students adjust to the time difference before even starting high school. And just because the Middle and High school are in the same building doesn't mean they all share one space. There is a part of the building designated for the 8th graders to grow and thrive, while they are still allowed to have classes on the High school side, allowing them to explore and get a taste of high school before ever getting there. Some of the classes are high school classes, such as English 1 and Algebra 1, and Pre-Algebra for all who need it, so that we have credits before our 9th-grade year. This sets kids up so that if they want to graduate early, they can, in the December before their graduating class. Or if they want to do Dual-Enrollment at STLCC, students can start their sophomore year with AP and Honors classes connected to the college. The counselors are very nice, and they will continue with their students until they graduate from high school. They help students find a place, or start to understand their place, so that in high school, the journey of self-discovery can flourish. Each teacher strives to make sure every student has all the tools necessary to move up to the next step in life and push through all the steps that come after. East Middle has a lot of the same sports and music that the High school has; orchestra, band, and choir all have their respective 8th-grade classes, all the sports teams are 8th-grade only, and our drumline, theatre, and robotics are open to all grades. The Middle school side also has its own unique clubs, such as the movie-book club, where they read books and then watch the movie adaptation and write reviews on it. This is a student-run club, thought up by and led by the students in it. Every student has a voice and has the opportunity to learn and grow, every teacher is helpful and makes sure kids are learning, and every counselor cares and provides all the support needed to become great. This school is amazing.

Hazelwood East is one of those schools that had a bad reputation and has made a complete turnaround. The students are engaged in classes, and most of the teachers build bonds and connections with their students to ensure that they are learning. There are many opportunities to excel and get ahead, such as AP classes and college prep classes like ACT Prep. There are also many classes catered to student interests, from Pottery and Sports Journalism, to Drum Corps, and Concert Choir. Students can join classes that help them find their passions. There are many events throughout the school year, such as pep rallies where the drumline and cheerleaders, and athletes of the season all get hype, and other pep rallies where guest speakers come in and talk to us about important topics such as staying off drugs and following our dreams, typically followed by some cool things to watch. The counselors are very friendly and help with anything, from "that one annoying teacher" to social drama to extracurricular engagement. They have at least 100 students each, and they make sure each kid feels special. The extracurriculars at this school are very well. They extend more than just sports teams, and our sports teams are very well run. We have DECA, FBLA, TSA, HOSA, a Robotics team, an eSports team, and a couple of other technical clubs. We have a Chess club, an Art club, a Film club, and our theatre is very well known for our musicals and plays, especially the spring musical of 2025, which was SiX! The Musical: Teen Edition. Our school encourages everyone to find passion, from technical studies to performing arts; everyone has a place at Hazelwood East High.

I love this School, My daughter recently went To North Middle and that school is a absolute joke. She came to Southeast and she loves it, i get calls for her Grades being an A and im proud of her, its just the security and stuff but overall. I love the school. She comes home with a smile on her face and makes new friends each day. she goes to school prepared and ready for school, nothing ever goes wrong. i love this school and she went there all her middle school year.
