Description

MUST SEE! Negotiable rent. This is a very large 2 bedroom, 2 bath duplex home in Leucadia (north coastal Encinitas), just 0.3 miles from the popular surfing and lounging spot, Grandview Beach. 244 Hillcrest Dr is the ground floor unit in a two-level duplex including a good size backyard. The home feels very big, it is 1080 square feet, much bigger than any apartment and even bigger than most two-bedroom single-family homes in the area. This home is in a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood with excellent local schools.

Your new home has two large bedrooms, the primary bedroom (with en suite bathroom) is 13' x 14' plus it has two closets and an additional changing/entry area that makes the room feel big. The second bedroom is 13' x 13'. There is also a large 17' x 15' living room, a dining room, and an open kitchen with an island, dishwasher, and gas range/oven. There is a bathroom in the primary bedroom and a second full bathroom, just outside the second bedroom, both were renovated in 2025 and are brand new. Off the kitchen/dining room, there are south-facing french doors that open to a spacious back yard, with a large brick patio and a grass area. Highlights of the outdoor space include a large 70-year-old avocado tree with professionally built 105 sq ft treehouse and two 4'x8' raised garden beds with automatic irrigation. There is also an 8'x10' shed for storage of hobby items.

Other features of this home include a detached one-car garage with space to park one additional car on the driveway. In your garage is your own (not shared) front-loading washer and dryer and a 50 amp outlet for level 2 electric car charging. All utilities are provided by the landlord including electric, gas, water, sewer, trash, and 500 Mb internet for a fixed monthly cost of $330/month.

This location is PERFECT. Walk to Grandview Beach in 10 minutes. Walk to the iconic Fish 101, Leucadia Donuts, or Bar Leucadian on 101 in 5 minutes. You are also just 2 blocks from the Leucadia Oaks Park including a mini skate park, basketball courts, and a sand volleyball court. Two miles south is the Encinitas Coaster Rail Station and near there is the Encinitas Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA and Moonlight Beach, arguably the best beach in North County San Diego. Two miles east is the full par 72 Encinitas Ranch Golf Course. You save ~$30 on green fees as an Encinitas resident. There is also easy access to the I-5 freeway and Hwy 101, the pacific coast highway (PCH).

All within 3 miles (easy biking distance) north and south on 101 you will find countless restaurants including some fantastic local burrito/taco shops and excellent sit-down Mexican restaurants plus Thai, Italian, Chinese, sushi, local pizza, and several little to medium size cafes featuring their own mix of cuisines. Needless to say, Encinitas has no shortage of great food. This is not to mention that you are just a few miles south of Carlsbad with food and culture to fill any gap that Encinitas doesn't cover.

No smokers, please. Small pets are OK.

I typically do a one year lease that rolls into month-to-month going forward, but lease terms are negotiable.

The home may be available a week or two early on request, please let me know your move in date needs.

"The neighborhood is a mix of retired people and new families. It’s not as communal as other cities I’ve lived in with many people driving in and out of the community and then staying inside or in their backyard. The gates parks prohibit kids meeting there unless they belong to an association. It’s odd to see a gated park that children cannot play on , meet new kids that live across the street, etc. I’m used to larger cities where there are more public places to gather, meet your neighbors, and create a stronger community."
  • Tadie
"It's the best neighborhood I've lived to raise active, well-adjustef, wholesome kids. Schools all have a ton of activities and kids ride bikes everehere. "
  • Steven Biebel
"Encinitas Christmas parade, art walk, street fair, 4th of July parade and the moonlight beach is very welcoming. "
  • Tadie
"It’s the best place ever to raise a family. Kids can walk to elementary, middle and high school school. "
  • Captaing
"Leucadia Oaks Park is a meeting place for Neighbors. There is a skate park there the beaches only a short walk away."
  • Trulia User
"Great area and great schools. Some great parks and close to the beach. Great for being outside but the hills and lack of sidewalks in areas makes it less walkable than other areas. Package theft does happen and people don’t clean up after their pets well. The rent is also really high around here. "
  • Trulia User
