  • Trulia User
"It’s lovely, lots of young families, big park. Close to downtown Berkeley and to San Francisco. Not too snooty. "
  • Trulia User
"Challenging as more people are driving and fewer taking public transportations following the pandemic"
  • Trulia User
"Hiking on the hill when the wildflowers are in bloom and the 180% view is as clear as a bell. The best of the Bay. "
  • Trulia User
"I grew up on Oakvale Ave & Domingo, and even as a kid I felt that Claremont was the best neighborhood ever: so many families, with genuine community spirit, and all kinds of beautiful, secret places to explore (safely). Now that I’ve lived in Palo Alto, Bryn Mawr, Philadelphia, Manhattan—and raising my own three children in Brooklyn—it’s clear to me that this neighborhood is a uniquely special, sometimes magical, place to grow up. I wish I could move it to Brooklyn!"
  • Trulia User
"we care for each neighborhood, and watch out for one another in this big community. From helping the elderly to supporting the youth it's one big fest of communities colliding together and having each other backs. Let's not forget the big parties and many fusion restaurants they have to offer. With its diversity of multicultural foods the possibilities are endless and of course let's not forget our classics to New York style pizza to traditional Mexican cuisine it's an abyss of nothing but delicious food coming your way "
  • Trulia User
"I lived here over ten years ago, and the neighborhood is even better today. Local stores, restaurants, and green-space is perfect. Plus, just a short walk to aquatic park. "
  • Trulia User
"you see people with all walks of dogs around. most are considerate with picking up with their dogs but you do have to watch out as well."
  • Trulia User
"Lots of dogs in the area. However many dog owners do NOT pick up after their dogs. Very frustrating and gross. "
  • Trulia User
"Great area for small families and people who have animals. Alot of parks and good schools. Also there are many good food places in the area."
  • Trulia User
"Dog owners and dogs will appreciate the Pet friendly neighbors. The plentiful Parks, well maintained sidewalks, plenty of furry mates to play with. Easily accessible water supplies. "
  • Trulia User
"still have to watch your kids but all in all it's a good area to live in. Your family will be safe for the most part. "
  • Trulia User
"Sucks. No kids play outside. It’s dumpy and unfriendly. Trash everywhere and lots of sideshows……………."
  • Trulia User
"I’ve lived here for five years and have noticed most people are nice and public transit is very accessible. There’s a nice farmers market and great coffee shops. "
  • Trulia User
"Amazing architecture and well maintained houses. Beautiful hills with scenic houses nestled in. Close to many great things."
  • Trulia User
"Great access to public transit, both bus and BART, with good bikes lanes as well. There is also a ferry in the Berkeley marina"
  • Trulia User
"It's a very safe neighborhood. Cragmont park and remillard park are great for kids. It's beautiful and hilly so you need to be fit to get around. "
  • Trulia User
"This is a great neighborhood for families with lots of parks nearby. it's off the beaten path so there aren't many issues with vagrants or homeless drug addicts."
  • Trulia User
"It feels very much like a good neighborhood everyone knows and respects each other and i like that. "
  • Trulia User
"Diverse, neat people, good to walk, good public transit, each block feels different. Sunny and cloudy - walk a block to find your weather. "
  • Stacey M.
"Houses have a lot of character. Not all alike. Walkable restaurant, breweries, cafes. Great public transit to city on AC transit or casual carpool. Some people keep chickens, goats or bees. Nearby public tennis courts and park."
  • Trulia User
"We have long established neighbors, a farmers market every Tuesday and Thursday and a walkable bart station "
  • Trulia User
"There are a lot of dog walkers around during the day time, but the street lighting isn’t consistent. Also, nearby parks do not feel very safe before sunrise or after sunset. There are frequent assaults reported in the area. I make a point to only walk my dog during the day and without headphones in, so that I can be aware of my surroundings. "
  • Trulia User
"The neighbors in general are great, the gardens - well kept, there are tons of stores and things to do. "
  • Ari J.
"There is a long, excellent park for walks, which also has an off leash dog area. It’s really great to have so much space in a more urban area. "
  • Jessica W.
"100yr old bungalow neighborhood has great houses, a few cute businesses, and an easy walk to the downtown area of Albany. "
  • Cameron T.
"Dog owners would and do love this neighborhood because there isn’t much traffic, there are many exciting animal smells to sniff—and dog walks are a terrific way to meet nice people quickly and easily."

"Support from local neighbors (via systems like NextDoor). People are very willing to help the community"
  • Lauraeinowski
"I ride my bike on bike Blvd or a bike path. I don’t like driving in this area because it’s connected to so many arterial streets. It’s generally pretty congested. "
  • Annabel
"Easy, I drive to West Berkeley and it’s typically about 12 minutes to get to work. Driving in the Berkeley hills always calls for caution as there are people and children out on the streets where there aren’t always proper sidewalks. "
  • Natalie B.
"It is quiet and we have lots of deer visiting in the evenings. The views are spectacular and it feels very safe."
