"There are constantly different types of Sports events. Parades for different occasions. Trunk or treating for kids of all ages. Plenty of parks and swimming places. Family oriented and safe "

"Quiet dead end street. Beautiful scenery. Lots of room to grow. Great place to raise a family. Friendly neighbors "
  • Stacy.anderson614
"Nothing really. I don’t think there’s much of a neighborhood on Route 112. The cars go too fast on my 25mph stretch. They think it’s a drag race strip. "
  • Roberta Lestage Hoyt
"You feel like you have a good amount of distance from your neighbors, but not isolated. It is a developing town with some newer establishments I. Town and surrounding areas. "
  • Julion P.
"pirate festival and strong community ties. there's a gin club and a ton of civic organizations like the lions and vfw"
  • soulmates
"I have lived in Buxton and worked in Portland for 10 years. It is the EASIEST commute, and takes the same 25 minutes it used to take me when I actually LIVED in Portland and had to deal with traffic. (We now live 14 miles from the Portland line) I love living in the country, feeling safe in my community, and what began as "neighbors" are now "extended family." We were amazed that we could purchase an 11-room farmhouse, huge attached barn, and 2-car garage FOR THE SAME PRICE as what we had sold our tiny Portland cape for. Lower taxes, neighbors who are available 24/7, a terrific school system, and being surrounded by beautiful farmland... all while being so close to Portland. When this information becomes more publicized, I would not be surprised to see house prices rise here. We easily learned about wells and septic systems, and they have proven to be an asset instead of a hindrance. Buxton is a kid-friendly place, with ball fields, streams for fishing, summer programs, wonderful small libraries, as well as lots of roads to safely ride bikes. Pick all the wild blackberries you want...they grow wild just about everywhere! I guess I'd better stop. I could go on and on. But you get the idea. Lower prices on houses, lower taxes, schools with teachers who would do anything for their students, and take your pick of Saturday night bean suppahs! Please consider being our neighbor!"
