10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe culture within this school is a direct reflection of it's leadership. The outgoing principal has a consistent track record of prioritizing fund raising over fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement and it is apparent in the attitudes of both the faculty and the parents. Most teachers do the bare minimum and parents are hit up on a weekly basis from their 'homeroom mom' for financial contributions - the most grotesque example of which is a strongly encouraged financial contribution to their homeroom teacher in the form of an end-of-year monetary gift. The socio-economic profile of the students who attend this school is what keeps the school off the 'consistently underperforming' list. Put this school and it's outgoing principal in a less privileged zip code and it would be a complete failure. It is well past time for the leadership and faculty at this school to do some serious soul searching around what it means to serve as an educator. Families that live a few miles West are fortunate to experience what a public school in S. Tampa should aspire to be. Parent of 2 children who attended Gorrie all 5 years.Parent Review2y ago13 Reviews - Plant High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a substitute teacher I see all sort of schools and types of student behaviors. We all know how we were as kids, when it was a sub day... In my experience, Plant High School is my number 1 choice when it comes to subbing. The students are well behaved, the staff is always helpful, most students do the work I assign while filling in for the teacher (which is unheard of at most schools), and I never leave the school being glad the day is finally over because of behavior. I personally would recommend this school as a good option for parents looking for good academics, student life, and being less worried their child is going to learn bad habits.Other Review6mo ago13 Reviews - Wilson Middle School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averageas a past student, i do not recommend this school. it’s listed as one of the top schools in tampa but they don’t ever discuss school fights, online safety, etc. on some occasions fights at school happen but nothing is done about it making this a somewhat unsafe campus where students don’t feel safe.Other Review2y ago13 Reviews - Check out schools near 238 E Davis Blvd.

"Very friendly with a nice mix of young & old. There’s no grocery store but plenty of restaurants to walk to & a 7-11 if you need milk, etc. Tons of community activities for everyone with a small town vibe & the city is right over the bridge "

"Davis Islands is the best kept secret in Tampa.. A Fl Keys vibe right in the heart of downtown. You can leave your door unlocked it is so safe. I lived there for 10 years until work forced a move... Miss walking to restaurants and coffee shops with my dog."

"I have been in the Tampa area since the 1960's. Lived everywhere from the beaches to the country. Davis Island is fantastic. Great place to live to raise a family, access interstates for work, downtown just around the corner. Schools in the area are good ones. Safe place to be. No worries."
