SCHS has come a long way since Mr. Harwell took over. The moral has improved and kids actually care about coming now. Mr. Davis has done a great job with fixing attendance issues at the school.

The academics are not challenging. My kids tell me that the classrooms are poorly controlled, which interferes with the learning environment. I've heard reports of several student fights this year.

For the past four months, my daughter’s teachers have been absolutely wonderful. They are caring, dedicated, and truly invested in their students. I have nothing but praise for the educators in the classroom they are the reason families like mine continue to show up and try to make things work.Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the school’s leadership and day-to-day operations. From an administrative standpoint, the school has been steadily declining, and it is beginning to directly affect families.One major issue is the rigid front office policy. After 2:00 PM, phone calls are no longer answered, and parents are not allowed to change pickup arrangements no exceptions. Real life doesn’t always follow perfect schedules. Accidents, work emergencies, and unexpected situations happen. The complete lack of flexibility or compassion in these moments sends a clear message that family circumstances are not considered or valued.Pickup and drop-off times are another serious concern. Expecting very young children to arrive at school between 7:00 and 7:25 AM is unrealistic and exhausting for both students and parents. This schedule might make more sense for older students who can manage their mornings independently, but it places an extreme burden on working parents especially single parents with multiple children. While this may be a county-wide issue, it still deserves to be challenged and reconsidered due to its impact on families.In short, the teachers are doing an outstanding job with what they have. However, poor leadership, inflexible policies, and unreasonable scheduling are undermining the positive work happening in the classrooms. I strongly urge the school board to take these concerns seriously and address the operational failures that are making it increasingly difficult for families to succeed.
