3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagethis school sucks they did do all they could considering the medical situation at hand it took 6 months to get in contact with the school principal and finally got her in the phone two weeks ago smh i literally was facing death and the did nothing to accommodate my son a lot of he said she said my son also faced some bullying and no talk of retention was discussed they just sent a letter alt with weeks after school ended and that spoke about retention during my hospitalization i was harassed up until i was about to go under for operation i was in communication the whole time with this school and the principal lied through her teeth and stated that my son was missing for two months i have proof of speaking to her staff about my plan due to illness and being unable to take care of my son Note to the principal: you continue with your attitude because of society standards you are going to stop a lot of kids from reaching their full potential!! if everyone was like you and didn’t believe in their students if no teacher ever took a risk we would have no mike whalburg, we wouldn’t have a lot of the superstars and athletes that we have today you have to think outside the box especially for our students because the way that everyone follows is not what always works .Parent Review1y ago - High School/Science-Tech

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school offers so many great AP classes, and pay for all the students' AP and SAT exams. We also get free lunch/breakfast, free public bus transportation and free dinner for athletes after school. There are so many resources here to help us get to college, like college club and gear up, and the teachers really try their best to have everyone at least graduate high school. But this school's really REALLY crowded, so much that it can take you half an hour to get your lunch. And it kinda sucks how much athletes are favored over other students by literally every staff, even the lunch ladies. Also, the esol kids are being neglected because they arent actually being taught english but rather just watch youtube videos all day. "Mattoon is a beautiful, historic street right downtown. 5min walk to Granny's Baking table, White Lion Brewery, bars, restaurants etc. and you can be on 291 or 91 in a minute or two. "

"I've been here for 4 years taking care of my Mom due to a terminal illness and I am battling an illness myself as the best medical centers are less than a mile away from mother's apartment and there's a police station right next door to apartment building also and the MGM Casino will be open in a month and everything that is needed is readily accessible within a 2-3 mile radius. My mother 💘 loves living here and has been here for over 33 years and has no intentions of leaving to live somewhere else. "

"I have live here for 11 yrs it's not the best neighborhood but people are friendly..too many people up and down the stree makes it a little nervous to others but overall people are respectful as long you mind your business. "

"A lot of new coffeeshops, galleries, and music venues have opened up... In Spfld, there's tons of high culture, low culture, bars, clubs--everything interesting is here, in my opinion... Plus, it's New England on an artists budget -- like San Fran used to be way back when... I love Springfield and I recommend it to other artists who want to find like-minded people."
