"Quiet, family and pet friendly, lots of walkers and bicyclists, large lots, neighbors look out for each other. "
  • Trulia User
"Private setting, and kids can play freely in the cul-de-sac. Great neighborhood. All the neighbors are all good friends."
  • Trulia User
"lots of places to walk thru neighborhoods but lots of people have their dogs not leashed or don't pick up after their dog poop"
  • Kylah E.
"They like the Larkspur trail, close to the skatepark and dog park. Sidewalks and pedestrian walkways at roundabout "
  • BMM
"Commute to downtown or Old Mill isn’t about 10 mins in the mornings. Traffic is way worse in the afternoons. "
  • Edwin C.
"Dog owners would like the larkspur trail that is nearby and you can walk your dog along that trail. "
  • sasstuart
"This area has many road access options and is close to everything without congestion or noise. The police station is right up the road and Ponderosa Park, which is in our neighborhood, is patrolled often so it feels like a plus for safety. The people in this neighborhood are good family people and look out for each other. I know that if I need anything I can, and sometimes do, ask for help, and I help them as well. Easy drive to drop off the kids at school as well as Juniper swim and fitness, shopping, etc. Large lots with well developed trees and variation in how the houses are situated on the properties so there's privacy and doesn't look like the new cookie-cutter neighborhoods with tiny square flat lots & neighbors towering over your yard. "

"We live here and close to (but not too close). the east side public library, Costco, Safeway, Mothers, Long board Louie's, Worthy, Barnes and Noble and all kinds of other shopping on the east side. "
  • sasstuart
"I live in this area and find it to be convenient yet quiet. All of our neighbors know each other and have many opportunities to have conversation, even with those who live a few streets away while they walk their dogs. I wouldn't want to live here if I were concerned about alot of privacy or throwing parties as I did a few years ago, but it's perfect for our lifestyle now."
  • sasstuart
"I am a single Mom with a son, and we feel very safe with good neighbors who watch over each other and our properties."
  • Patriciaoregon
"Because I value my health above all else, I chose Gardenside as my neighborhood. Here, it's easy to get sunshine, fresh air and plenty of exercise -- I walk out the door and indulge not only complete safety in the neighborhood, but also on the many trails (along the beautiful canal and in the BLM). The inspiring views of the Cascades also entice me outdoors! Also, from here, I can walk to the neighborhood farm (Field's Farm) for fresh produce all year around (they have a commercial green house). Many of my neighbors love to walk, too, so it's easy to find friends to join me. As for weather, I like the micro climate here in Gardenside - more sun and much less snow and ice than on Bend's westside. As for a healthy social life and community, the middle of the Gardenside neighborhood is a well-maintained park with a lovely stone-and-timber Pavillion -- a great place to meet with friends, family and neighbors for BBQ, playing our musical instruments, indulging conversation, relaxing with a good book, or meeting with our laptops. Neighbors here really look out for each other and take good care of each other. That means a lot to me. As for getting out and about ... Since I'm only 3 miles from the Old Mill District and Bend's (charming) downtown, I waste no time fighting traffic to get to the art galleries, restaurants, theater, symphony and the nationally acclaimed Friday Art Walks. Of all the places I've lived in the US, I've been happiest (and healthiest!) while living in Gardenside."
