3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTeachers and administrators prioritize safety and student success. It’s a challenge engaging young adults with tedious curriculum, however, high school kids have several opportunities to attend sports or after school activities. I love and depend on the thorough parent/faculty communication. So far, it’s been a great experience as a parent.Parent Review11mo ago - Hall-Woodward Elementary

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI too am a parent that has a daughter at Philo. When school first started , i was siting at a dentist appt. and an older lady just wanting to talk said hi, your son looks like he is very smart this was my 4 yr. old I said thank you, he is. Well the conversation went on and she asked where do your children go to school and i said Philo. As soon as i said that her demeanor changed. And she said i had a grandson there and plzz i ask of you to look out for your daughter, my grandson was a great student and when he entered there he did a complete u turn he went down hill. And of course i was worried but i thought i would give this school a try ... SO HERE I AM GIVING THIS SCHOOL THE WORST GRADE I CAN GIVE IT A 1 . NOT HAPPY MY DAUGHTER ALSO CHANGED AND I KNOW WHY IT'S BECAUSE OF PHILO !! PLEASE PARENTS LOOK AROUND IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE DON'T DO WHAT I DID!! MY DAUGHTER IS MOVING SCHOOLS AS I AM TYPING THIS :)Parent Review10y ago - Virtual Academy

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI taught at this school for many years and have nothing but positive things to say about the students, parents, and staff members. I am filled with pride when I think about my time at the school and miss teaching there very much. The students are challenged academically and held to high standards, but they generally rise to and exceed these standards. The college professors in particular will hold the kids to account, and it shows in their development both as students and individuals. If you want your child to develop a strong work ethic, feel supported by both their peers and teachers, and grow into thoughtful, respectful, and diligent individuals, send them to this school! Please be mindful that this school is not for everyone. Students will be enrolled in college courses immediately and this has proven to be difficult for some individuals. The school also does not offer after-school sports (students can still participate, just at their neighborhood school), however there is an abundance of clubs on various days that almost all students participate in. Parents also need to understand that micromanaging their students' coursework is a no-go here. College professors sometimes outright refuse to speak with parents as they only communicate with the students themselves. Don't be turned off by this - it simply encourages the students to learn how to speak to their professors when they need help (questions, extensions, etc). In my opinion, this is one of the most important life skills that is taught at the school. That being said, parents are still a HUGE part of the Early College family and are encouraged to volunteer whenever possible. The school provides ample opportunities for families to get involved and participate in their kids' high school experience. I truly loved my experience here. I am so proud of my students and I had so much fun watching them develop into incredible, thoughtful, intelligent, and creative individuals.Teacher Review7mo ago - Smith Farm Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSo I went there from kindergarten - 3rd grade, and let me tell you about ALL of the bad things that happened to me. So I was bullied and NO ONE EVEN CARED I would tell the teacher but the teacher would do NOTHING like absolutely nothing. There was a lot of swearing and bullying and I think the principal that I had (I don't know if the principal that I had is still there) was absolutely bad and would do nothing. My grandma was on the PTA and the PTA wasn't that bad, but still a little bad. Only like a few people cared about me in that school but those people were friends and one staff member I knew but not the principal, I knew the principal but did nothing about my bullying. The bully swore at me one time. Please DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE or they would have a bad time with the bullying and learning swear words at a young age. just to let you know this is an elementary school and this should not be happening in an ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!!!!!Other Review1y ago - Check out schools near 2303 Waughtown St.
