Leadership at this school does not share critical components of students' curriculum with parents. Many teachers are unfit and underqualified with the subjects they are tasked to teach. Deferrals to someone else in their hierarchy and in the context of "it isn't my job..." are the norm here. Head Principal has been caught lying to parents about curriculum, behavior issues and overall modalities used during instruction.Violent and disruptive students are moved to another classroom because leadership is afraid to act or discipline as needed, putting potentially hundreds of other students at risk.Parental rights are frequently ignored and administration continually lies by omission in regards to testing procedures and data collection of students.Teacher diversity is effectively non-existent and portrays an air of nepotism and good ol' boy tactics.Highly overated school, due mostly to ineptitude and dishonest leadership at the very top.Special education program is severely lacking the most basic accomodations. Requests for accomodation for kids in special ed programs are either ignored or deferred to another person that cannot fix the problem.Superficial community programs meant to garner community and parental involvment are used as a ruse to promote fundraising efforts by the admin.Leaking classrooms when it rains heavily. Teachers need to place a bucket to collect the water.New leadership is needed before this school measures up to the most basic expectations of learning and safety.

If I could, I would give it 0 stars, this school is absolutely unprofessional… they treat the students & parents of the students absolutely terrible. They’re unable to accommodate anything & expect every student & parent’s lifestyle to align with their schedule. These staff are not interested in relationships with the students as they are more interested in the money from students’ dues & fees that a struggling parent or student has to pay! My daughter has worked hard her entire 4 years for these people to practically disappear when she graduates! She was left confused on how to handle her early graduation & communication with the school as these people cannot even provide proper information through email, that she had to initiate, either! These staff are more worried about appearances & profit than they are their students & community. That shows.

We have had a wonderful experience at Hughes! No school is perfect but the leadership truly cares about students and their families. The majority of teachers are amazing and care about learning and student success. Middle school is three short years. Staying connected to your child and making sure to stay involved through the PTA will make your time at Hughes a great experience!
