10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI’m a vendor that comes in and the lady at the front desk was very unwelcoming! To say the least very rude. I watched her tone with the students as well. Just overall harsh and not pleasant. She is at the front desk to welcome our students, parents, vendors and family. I can’t make a comment on education but my first impression of this lady is I’m glad my children don’t walk into this school in the morning.Other Review3w ago15 Reviews - Hickory Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThough no preschool, my child had "passed" a review from a panel of professional observers to admit my 3 week early admittance child into kindergarten. Two weeks after school had begun, we were invited to a meeting with Doctor, that was not present at the actual meeting. They made their decision without a doctor, to be "de-enrolled" They listed him as a special needs child and to be evaluated through their pre-school staff. They presented overwhelming data that he was a danger and a safety liability to the other students in his class, as well as himself. The sudden news of by Hickory Staff collective agreement to us was very shocking and concerning to us, considering the personality that the school was presenting a danger to other students as well as himself , "un-sustainable"'. We tried to explain that he did not exhibit violent behavior at home. Also that he could navigate through first grade computer keyboard IXL almost entirely on his own, they seemed to ignore. We asked the school, is there any intimate training to students? In answer they replied that due to the pandemic, they now are short staffed and cannot provide that type of interaction that they normally would. On our way out of the school, they answered my wife's request to return the school supplies $ invested for that year. The principal offered to return at a later date. To this date were not answered to be invited to get any of it back.As a response, we did enroll him into preschool in another district. Since then, now he can count to 100+ in English, Chinese, and up to 20 in Spanish. And can recite all the basic colors and shapes in translation by memory to Spanish that he just learned in preschool, only by visualization. Is the top of his 24 class in this regard. On the contrary to Hickory, has weekly reports of his conduct which all show high achievement. Question, can any model student in Hickory kindergarten achieve all this? At least he is not presently in a preschool controlled group in special needs education as Hickory elementary "so strongly" implied, as they made a case their collected data was presented by panel. Kind of resembles the no child left behind law, and more. Because he is half Chinese?Parent Review4y ago4 Reviews - Avon Intermediate School West
