4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCanoga Park High School is very adamant about students doing the best they can and getting into college; assemblies are made to see where students are academically and to remind them about where they are supposed to be. They offer good magnets, academic resources, and extra summer learning apart from the usual summer credit make-up such as ninth-grade summer geometry classes. While CPHS has good initiative in academics they do a poorer job in almost every other aspect. Many of the non-magnet counselors (only ever encountered non-magnet) never answer their emails or are never in their offices, the campus is dirty with trash and writings on the bathroom stalls, and they lack a sense of urgency with student complaints (about other students/teachers/campus. There is very little accessibility for those who require a wheelchair apart from the one(maybe two) elevator/s on campus. Students are rowdy, ill-mannered, and have very little desire to learn; many classes get interrupted by a student who complains or tries to be funny in a disrespectful manner. Recently, mirrors have been removed from bathroom stalls in an alleged attempt to keep students in classes in the morning/during class time but to no avail students still linger in the bathroom and around campus.Student Review6mo ago - Christopher Columbus Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe academics at this school are a joke, even in "honors" they were barely being taught. The kids are babied, majorly. They aren't taught at very high standards and don't get a true consequence for violence. There are fights way too often here and most the kids disrespect the adults. Not enough staff to keep up with all the mischief. The newer assistant principal is no good. He doesn't take parent/student concerns seriously. To get your kid into a true and fun elective...good luck on that as well. They don't offer too much.Parent Review7mo ago - Justice Street Elementary

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have been at Justice for 6 years. We have experienced a teacher strike, the pandemic, LOA's and everything in between. The one thing that has remained constant is the support, love and understanding from the principal, the office staff, the teachers, aides, and everyone else at Justice that makes it such an amazing place to send your children to. There is no doubt in my mind that both of my children are in a safe environment, learning not only what they should be educationally, but also learning to be confident and a good friend. My oldest is in his last year at Justice and it makes me sad knowing that he will no longer be a Jaguar come mid-June. His teachers over the years have helped him gain his confidence and become an independent student who is thriving. I can only hope he has teachers in middle school that are half as good as those at Justice. The parent support and involvement at the school are unmatched. It’s a place where you will want to be involved and the families you meet with become an extension of your own family.Parent Review4mo ago - Check out schools near 22938 Keswick St.

"West Hills a tight-knit community where a good amount of neighbors know and watch out for each other. Nobody really bothers anyone, people are more likely to help than hurt others; therefore, it is a peaceful and comfortable place to live and raise a family. "

"they would love the amount of dogs they would see! I think it is a big deal for pet owners to realize that a lot of people in their neighborhood also have pets, because it makes them realize that others appreciate the important and love of pets "

"you see them walking a lot around sunset there are trails that people like to take their dogs on but small dogs are in constant danger from coyotes that jump the fences regularly in the area and owls. they come down from the local mountains looking for food. larger animals are much safer here but a pack can easily take down a single large dog if desperate enough "

"My next door neighbor is a sweet little old lady. I’ve been over to her place from time to time to check up on her and help with little chores around the house. She’s very nice and I’ve never come across this at other places I’ve lived in "

"I have lived here since I was born and am now raising my young child here. It is a great area in Los Angeles to raise children. It is secluded enough to feel like you are away from the city noise and traffic, and yet only 15 minutes from some of the highest end shopping and restaurants in the area. Homes in this area are rarely on the market; most of my neighbors have lived here for at least 15 years and plan to for many more. Mostly everyone takes pride in their home in our community, and looks out for each other in the neighborhood. It has been this way since it was built in the late 1980s and continues to remain so (only with the houses being continually updated and modernized!). It is an expensive community, but proves to be well worth the investment. "

"I lived in the neighborhood of West hills I know it is a safe and good area to live. Whenever I visited my friend in West hills people were very friendly, they would reach out with a hi, how was your day? And that matters"

"There are a lot of elementary schools in the areas of west hills and Canoga Park. There are many charter and magnet schools that offer various focuses. If your home school does not suit your child’s specific needs there is plenty of opportunity to enter a lottery to get your child into a preferred school. If you are not admitted through lottery and you have to go to your home school, the schools in the area are great. There is something about going to school with your neighbors that makes a neighborhood a community it is an aspect often not considered in the search for quality education. Knowing your neighbors creates community which is a great thing for children."
