5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs with any homeschooling it's all about how much effort the parent is willing to put into it as they are now the teacher. I couldn't be happier with my decision to enroll my daughter for her kindergarten year. She's concurrently enrolled in Axios but the correspondance program has lots of resources and fun activities for the kids. Highly recommended.Parent Review15y ago1 Reviews - Snowshoe Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to this school the first years that it opened and now my children have and are still going through this school. I had no problems with the school, and the teachers my daughter had, were very enthusiastic and good at working and challenging her where she was above efficiency and needed "more". She is now entering high school with a " high honor" status and earned 2 of her high school credits/classes during her 8th grade year. Sure, there were a couple teachers I would avoid having my kids with, but that is typical in any school. Overall, Snowshoe is great. I've noticed since the new "Machentanz School" was completed, people/teachers seemed to have started bad-mouthing Snowshoe and its competency. That seems to be a trend in the valley. New School = bad mouth the older/established schools! Unfortunate. Still love the valley!!!Parent Review14y ago4 Reviews - Wasilla Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSo, I am a 8th grader in this school, and for a second, I thought this was a good school. ITS NOT. I saw a kid get pantsed in the gym 3 TIMES BY THE SAME PERSON. Then when he went for the 4th time in 15 MINUTES the kid turned around and "scared him." Then the kid who scared him got in more trouble While the kid who did the pantsing got off Scott free. How does that work you ask? I don't have the FOGGIEST IDEA. I don't know why this is on "great schools.org." Its the complete OPPOSITE. This should be on Terrible schools.org. So overall 1 star. "I have lived in this neighborhood since I moved to Alaska seven years ago. It has been a great place for the kids to grow up. It is quiet and not very noisy. We see lots of Moose around here too. "

"Amazing down the road! The KGB is a great road way to use to get to and from work which allows for spending less on gas and transportation "

"No sidewalks on most side streets, maintained in winter, lots of wildlife so fenced yards are better for kids."

"this area has become very busy. traffic is terrible. crime is on the upswing. most homes are nice, but have noticed drugs are on the rise with neighbors. "

"KGB Rd. Is dangerous. Until they redo this road it’s scary to drive to and from work. Especially during winter. "

"You must drive to get anywhere. Very woodsy area. We are about 8 miles from the center of Wasilla and about 45 minutes from Anchorage. There is no public transportation in Wasilla. "

"Some dogs are escape artists and run the street, pooping in other peoples yards. The owners don’t bother to try to clean up. It’s too woodsy. Most people are very respectful with their animals. Walking them on leash and making sure they aren’t causing others problems."

"Knik-Fairview is a small area located just outside of Wasilla, Alaska. Elementary schools are close within the neighborhoods. High schools and middle schools are located in Wasilla, right across the street from each other. "

"It’s super far away from everything. We are way out in the boondocks. Not a great place for a commuter, but still a lovely place to live. Settlers Bay is a beautiful high-end neighborhood but KGB is a very dangerous road. The state plans on putting more funding into making the road safer, so in the future it won’t be so bad. "

"KGB is a very busy and dangerous road. Not only to drive on, but to live 100 feet from. There are lots of families around here, which is great, but the volume of traffic makes it a bit much for any parent to let their kids out and play. "

"The problem with this area seems to be the infinite amount of W. Virginia hillbilly types who lurk about, making the decent hard working types second guess the actual value behind the beauty of the surrounding nature. The messes they like to cultivate in their yards are also a little unsettling. "

"I live in this area and absolutely love it. Quiet with a veiw and very friendly neighbors. Good spring water as well. "
