8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a contactor worker, I observed some rather unsavory parts of working at Gardner Elementary. First, they expect silence from kids in the hallway (even the lunch line). They yell at kids frequently and adhere to rigid rules that make teaching or working at the school 10x harder. The way they punish kids is punitive and does not help bring about a more positive outcome. They expect complete compliance and are SEVERELY lacking in the special ed department. They are understaffed severely and since they don't want to pay an actual living wage, they put their workers in this situation that is not only unethical but not safe. The kids that require 1:1, do not get it. Because there's not enough employees. By law, a lot of those IEPs REQUIRE it.If you are a parent who may only speak Spanish, don't expect them to try and accommodate you or understand cultural differences. That's just the beginning. If you are a contracted employee, expect to be treated like an an unwelcome visitor. I had a woman (Lisa) yell some snarky comments at me in the parking lot when I was having car issues. I had an para (Jessica) tell me to leave. That doesn't even begin to cover the pettiness going on with the paras themselves. There was not ONE DAY that I heard anything nice from their staff. Please, do yourself a HUGE favor and stay away from this place.Other Review5mo ago4 Reviews - Gardner Edgerton High School

"Every May, the town of Gardner hosts a garage sale weekend, people come from all over. The town also hosts the Johnson County Fair in July. The people of Gardner go all out for Fourth of July, there are lots of fireworks. Halloween is also great here as Gardner is very family friendly."

"We live by the freeway so it is always loud. But the neighborhood is nice and people are friendly. Very kid friendly neighborhoods and quiet if you don’t live behind the freeway. Schools are nice and clean. I recommend you move here if given the chance. "

"I've lived in this neighborhood for a couple years now. Went to Baker, then got a house here in Gardner at 20. We did not realize it at the time, but after having a child, we noticed just how great it is for families. The schools are great, everything is nearby and the neighborhood is safe. Lots of kids in the neighborhood. It's definitely on the pricer side compared to KC, but worth it IMO. Commute to KC from Gardner isn't horrible, about 25-30mins. "
