3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI never got bullied or etc. The only thing that happened was caucasian kids would pick on me. I wanted to yell back but, that wouldnt have done anything. I honestly can't wait till highschool years. Kids there are ruthless and immature. Teachers are okay but, not the best. Homework, not a ton. Oh and 'honors' classes they expect so much more out of the kids which is stressing. I would honestly like to change schools, to where there is more discipline.Student Review6y ago - Martinsburg High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHaving graduated from Martinsburg High School, I can attest to the education I received. While some may point out bad educators, at any school there will always be teachers who stand out among the crowd and others who probably should have pursued a different career. Nonetheless, 90% of the educators I had worked hard, instructed with all their hearts, and instilled a sense of compassion and diversity that is so important today. Martinsburg High School is undoubtedly the most diverse in the Berkeley County area. Seeing the events of 2020, one cannot undervalue how important that is. While an instructional education lays the groundwork for a child's formal education, there is education in being exposed to people of different ethnicities and socio-economic statuses. That is something that cannot necessarily be taught but rather learned through life's exposure. As a straight A student, I was able to push myself academically at MHS. The schools offers a wide variety of honors and advanced placement courses. The teachers I had genuinely cared about the life of their students. When i had questions or concerns, I was able to stay after the day was over and ask whatever was needed. The teachers don't get paid for that extra time but they gladly give it. If any parents says that students at MHS cannot excel, they're wrong. Like I mentioned above, they'll be afforded an education that not only comes from coursework but the beauty of diversity.Other Review3y ago - Eagle School Intermediate

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is AWFUL! One of the worst I have ever seen. My daughter is bringing home 100's on homework, classwork and quizzes where she clearly misspelled words and her teacher did not mark them as incorrect. And I completely disagree with giving letter grades for elective classes they attend once per week. My daughter is getting letter grades for PE, art, music and health. What's that about? It's about the school trying to boost their overall student GPA to make sure they can still get funding because their standardized test scores are so bad. The teachers are awful, the administration is awful, and as one parent already stated, the Board of Education knows how bad it is and will allow you to transfer your child to another school without penalty if you choose to do so.Parent Review10y ago - Check out schools near 226 Winchester Ave #6.
