7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy largest issue is that it's kinda small and I cannot find others with same interests and barely anyone with the same ethnicity, yeah it may sound like a politically biased "issue" but really what I'm trying to say is that I can't really fit my personal puzzle into groups (since it's niche) because of it's size (this should be fixed in the future since this is a fast growing development by the way), other than that; I moved here for educational opportunity and because family members live close by, the last time I have ever touched Abilene was in winter 2011 in order to visit family members which means that I never grew up/got to know anyone prior at all. Despite differences in personality and opinion, I feel very welcomed and a lot more comfortable than my last school. They have helped me catch up into this new and amazing educational system after leaving a corrupt and failed education system; yeah it's taking months, but I do really feel like I am really learning! The homework policy is very reasonable since it reviews what you need to understand (as it fits all learning types) and the people are very helpful in helping you through your troubles of understanding the material. Overall, the school is amazing but I nicked off one star since it's too adapted into people who already live here (don't worry, they don't bully "outsiders" at all) and because it's socially boring for a niche person (like myself) which pushes you to go to the internet to talk to people which isn't good in the 2010s especially with less niches online (the last resort). If you want amazing education and friendly people, then come here, it was worth the stresses of moving!Student Review6y ago - Wylie J High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would 100% recommend this school, and its district, 5th - 8th grade have been one of the best years of my life! No bullying, fun teachers, fun dress up days, good workouts, and just a really good school over all!Student Review1y ago - Wylie Intermediate School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI wish any parent who has a child with and IEP because Wylie did things the way they see fit without regards to what their IEP says. We recently had a situation where my son was falling asleep in class for two months before anyone in the entire school informed me of this situation and then after I found out one of his 5th grade teacher had the nerve to tell me that it was getting out of hand. Mind you my son had just switched allergy medication that may have been causing the drowsiness and had his teacher informed me, the problem when it initially happened it could have been solved right away. Total fail on Wylie's part. I could really go on forever about our personal experience that's how aweful the school is.Parent Review6y ago - Early Childhood Center

"None. There are no community events in this neighborhood. This isn’t a “bad” neighborhood, however we are located close to Salvation Army. We have many many homeless and/or sketchy people walking up and down our street all the time, even up and down the alley behind houses. It definitely does not make the neighborhood feel safe. Even with a new Fire Station down the street, it does not feel like it’s swayed the street walking people at all. "

"Beautiful spring and summer yards. Large, beautiful trees that are colorful in the fall. Family friendly trick-or-treating on Halloween. Our neighborhood is one of the best kept secrets in Abilene! AHS athletes run through to safely get in outdoor jogging exercise during the school day. Families safely ride bikes and walk most evenings. Large, well-kept homes for a great price!"

"It’s alright, not the best neighborhood but every seems nice. I wouldn’t let my kids play outside by themselves. "
