Description
The Home
The home is very nice clean, hardwood floors, period details, 9 foot ceilings, well appointed, and well taken care of.
There is plenty of on-street parking but if interested, there is a parking spot available behind a locked gate for $60/month.
Garage also available for large storage of things like suitcases, etc.
Bathroom is shared.
Washer/Dryer on premises (available until 10pm please
)
Utilities: water, garbage, PG&E, internet usually 75-110/mo.
There is a well proportioned yard, and a garden, with native plants and several fruit trees (fig, a prolific orange tree nearly year round oranges! and persimmons) and we are on a fairly quiet street.
The Area
We're pretty central for how "off-the-beaten-path" the place feels like.
We are a 5-10 minute walk from NL/NX/57/62/96 AC Transit lines.
Both the NL & NX will take you directly to San Francisco.
The 57 will take you to the nearby Lakeshore shopping area (Trader Joes, Arizmendi Bakery, Peet's Coffee, Grand Lake Theatre), Piedmont Ave. shops (another Peet's!, Cato's, Blue Bottle Coffee), straight on to MacArthur BART (a major BART transfer point), and all the way into Emeryville with access to Bay Street shops, IKEA, and the Emeryville Market.
15 minute walk to the Glenview shopping area (Paulista, Savemore Market, a cleaner, a cobbler ) where, if what the little shopping and dining area has to offer doesn't suit your needs has a stop on the 33 AC Transit line that takes you straight up to Montclair (need I say: another Peet's, Yellow Door, a Safeway, Highwire coffee).
15 minute walk to the start of the Dimond District (yep, I spelled that right
), with a Farmer Joe's (a great local supermarket chain), a Safeway, Peet's Coffee, and La Perla Puerto Rican Cuisine.
The Vibe
Respectful, casual, homey. The house is a relaxed place to come home to. We definitely want someone who wants to maintain that vibe.
This house is, more than a place to stay, very much a home to belong to and maintain. It's a refuge, as I (D) like to say. We're not opposed to the occasional having-some-friends-over evening (we'd love to meet them!), or backyard BBQ every so often, but we're not a party house.
We like to meet at the table and have dinner together sometimes, have a beverage on the porch, or the occasional BBQ in the summer, but we're not partiers and like to keep the house mellow chill, if you will.
We're a mature couple of guys (we clean up after ourselves, respect and maintain common areas, and take fellow roommate's needs into account) and are interested in maintaining this as a home, not just a house.
The Folks
Two independent, mature folks:
B, early 50's. (he/him) Works in recruiting, commutes to SF during the week, is currently working on restoring a craftsman home in Alameda (quite handy!), and loves to spend time gardening in the yard after work.
D, (he/him) early 50's, works from home in Customer Support. Is an excellent cook and can craft a delicious cocktail. Loves to hike, take day-trips on his bike (some have even called him a "Randonneur"), and takes the occasional camping trip as well.
Also: There is also a one-bedroom cabin in the backyard, occupied by R (he/him), early 50's, self-described "brunch wizard", an independently employed metals artist who spends a lot of time outdoors.
You!
Looking for a longer term situation (6 month sublease signed upon deposit)
A good human respectful of others and kind. Mellow: you're partying days are also behind you and you like that homey, cozy vibe.
You pick up after yourself, respect and take care of common spaces.
You get it: this is (as mentioned) a home as well as a house. We'd like to keep it a home for ourselves as well as for you. We want someone who can do that.
We're not especially interested in this being a "guy's guy" house ( a "man cave"?) is the point: be clean, do your dishes, water the plants, be respectful, keep it homey.
That's what we're getting at.
Also! Have plants? Bring 'em! J, who's moving out, will be taking many of them with her :_^[
The Room
The room features one small closet and gets a lot of light. Room is approx 10x11'.
Room comes unfurnished (photographed with furniture for size reference (twin bed))
