This school is stellar! Sheila Minney and her teachers go all out to make this school inviting, fun, and well structured for learning. My kids have excelled here and love their teachers and how they are challenged to excel. All four teachers that my kids have had are fully dedicated and super sweet and empowering for the kids in their class. Best elementary ever!!!!!!!!!

It has been close to a year since my son has been going to this school, we recently moved to Eugene from a relatively more diverse school. As a person of color, I was scared after reading some of the reviews here and I thought I should put in a more "recent" update. The school and staff have been nothing but welcoming and supportive. My son appears to really enjoy school and has made several friends. Academically, he is progressing well. They put him at one level advanced math to accommodate his skills, some places do not have the flexibility. He is also given worksheets, online projects and fun group projects (including coding and 3D printing). The bi-monthly reports and assessments let us know how students are performing academically. There are decent opportunities and clubs for students to engage in (chess, track n field etc). I can't speak for individual cases and capabilities but the school seems to be a good one for middle schoolers.

My 3 siblings go to Sheldon and they love it. My sister just graduated spring of 2023 in IHS with a scholarship to the university of Oregon and a GPA of 4.0. She also graduated from regular high school with a GPA of 4.0. My other sister is a Junior, she is in IHS too, she failed English once, so her teacher walked her thru the whole class again, gave her the assignments to work on, then made her corrections and she passed. My brother is on the football team and he is also a regular student that is treated fairly. His teachers want to talk to him about his grades, they want to help him approve, they also tell my parents about his grades and they also help. I really am excited to go to Sheldon, and I hope I do well like my siblings. Ignore the comments that say Sheldon only cares about the athletes that are wealthy, they care about IHS, regular students, other programs, like pizza Wednesday in the church across the street that my brother goes to every Wednesday for lunch with his friends. Sheldon does not want your money, they want to educate you kids, help them in life, and get them ready for collage. I have been to many events at Sheldon, and never felt left out, the teachers wanted to talk to me, see what I had plans for the summer, and also help me in 8th grade next year. I felt very included and so did my siblings.
