"I live by the neighborhood and it’s a better environment for my children. The schools are good in the area. "
  • Andrea Hunter
"Downtown Harrisburg but small town feel near the river is not the safest at all times but quant with good parks. Occasional car theft. Noise includes fireworks from neighboring community and bike gangs that ride through. Nearby lake offers community music events and good walking trails. Safe during the day. Sketchy at night. "
  • Trulia User
"Nothing special here. I cant wait to move out. There is a lot of hit and runs as well. People have no respect for other peoples belongings. "
  • Trulia User
"nothing it's just an area that is well known to me to feel comfortable in the community as well as my kids feeling comfortable with the area to also go to school in "
  • Trulia User
"It's a quiet neighborhood, some local businesses, close to parks like Italian lake, Front Street and local schools. "
  • Maurice
"Uptown, Harrisburg is a diamond in the rough, that is going thru a current transition. Miton Hershey us opening a new school in the Uptown neighborhood. PA Archives and Federal Courthouse and now been added and a slew of great local grub, that you can eat and stroll by the Susquehanna River. Properties for sale are scarce, but they are a great entry price that you can have room to renovate to your liking. People are generally respectful and the crime(if any) is usually personal, respectively. "
  • Trulia User
"Downtown Harrisburg is easy to get to which has events, parades, and all year round fun. It’s enjoyable to walk to and along the Susquehanna River front and Italian Lake. It’s also easy to go to the West Shore or the East Shore for many options for shopping, grocery, and entertainment. "
  • Trulia User
"They will not like that there are areas that have broken glass on the side walks. so that can be dangerous for small pets or children"
  • Trulia User
"My commute is okay. It’s close to the highway and major road. Traffic around 4pm is a bit heavy but it flows."
  • Trulia User
"I love the diversity. Within less than a mile we have a thriving Catholic Church, synagogue, and mosque. There is unique and interesting ethnic grocery stores, and restaurants. There is also ample outdoor spaces with the green belt, Italian lake, wildwood park and the river walks all accessible. Community is highly commutable with 83/81/283 and the turnpike close by you are within 3 hours or so of NYC, Philadelphia, Baltimore, D.C., and Pittsburg! "
  • Susanmiller0817
"i feel very safe here. people are friendly to one another. i know all my neighbors names and we converse, help and look out for one another. i lived in a mixed ethnic and economic neighborhood and i enjoy that. i love the front porch sense of community. "
  • Troy H.
"That their children will always be safe. It’s critically important that kids are always comfortable in their neighborhood"
  • Nafiswilson8

  • Briennagarrity

  • Stephanie W.
"this neighborhood is amazing to raise children, there are so many things that go on, parks and recreation pick kids up m-f in the summer time and they have block parties entry Saturday during spring summer and fall. I truly loved living in that neighborhood, I'm trying really hard to move back asap.. "
  • Tulon M.
