Nsb offers a 13.2 mile, partial drive on beach stretch of snow-white sand with little noise, crowds or pollution. A rock ledge located four miles off the coast protects bathers and swimmers from undercurrents, giving new smyrna beach the distinction as ' the world's safest beach '. The shopping districts of canal street and flager avenue have recently under gone a twenty million dollar renovation. Many turn of the century buildings line these streets which are originally preserved and recently restored.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAdministration doesn’t care or respond to personal communication or complaints from parents. I continually hear appalling stories from other parents and community members about the unprofessional and inconsiderate administration. I know of several issues that have been brought to admin that have been occurring for YEARS and nothing has been done! If you pay money to the school for sports or academics please keep in mind that there is absolutely NO guidelines on how the money is spent by coaches and teachers. If your child attends or will attend, I’d recommend staying very visible and involved even though it may not matter most of the time but maybe it will!Parent Review1mo ago - New Smyrna Beach Middle School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is beyond horrible. I moved here a couple of years ago from Pennsylvania. Let me tell you, the school system in this state is a joke. They lump language arts and social studies together so you never know which one your child will actually learn. I didn't see the first piece of homework until January. I could tell language arts was a problem for my daughter to begin with. I've contacted the school and teachers multiple times about it to no avail. She finally got homework a few weeks ago and has absolutely no idea how to do it. The first couple of times I gave her a lot of help. Then I decided the teacher needed to see for herself how badly my daughter was struggling. She ignored it. So I had my daughter point it out to her. She told my daughter that she just needed to read it more than once (which I already have her do) and that she did good on tests. I'm sorry, I don't see how that is relevant to the fact that her reading comprehension is not where it should be. There tests are a joke. This whole school is a joke. I won't let my child fall through the cracks. If you know what's good for your son or daughter you will find a different school.Parent Review7y ago - Volusia Virtual School

"We have lived in this community for a few years and we love it. The people who live here year round are great and any unfortunate problems we've witnessed were with visitors and out of town property owners but those are few and far between. This is a great place for outdoor activities and raising a family. "

"I have great neighbours where I live. Code enforcement is not very evenly enforced, though, especially on the historic west side. Too bad because many folks there really take pride in their homes but values are ruined by the few who don't."
- Callerniehatton

"The homes are actually underpriced primarily because there are few on the market and those sell quickly. Check the square footage. It is primarily a 50 plus community. We love it. Close to great shopping. It can’t be beat for retirement . Some units are about 2,000 sq. Ft. Plus two car garage. The smallest units are about 1350!"

- Rager

"It is a quiet neighborhood as in people don't argue loudly or have loud parties. You can frequently hear the train and emergency vehicles. People on my street are friendly and keep their lawns neat and tidy. People walk their dogs in the morning and evening, but since there are no sidewalks they have to walk them in the street. It is 1 mile from shopping, dentist, doctors and gyms. Schools are less than 10 minutes. It is 3 miles from the beach and nightlife. A lot of people ride bikes and adult trikes around the area, so a car isn't strictly necessary if you like to walk or bike."
